I received a 'warm' greeting from the desk clerk upon my arrival, with the 'check-in' straight forward and quick. Upon entering my room, I found it to be tidy and clean. Very impressed! But to my dismay, there was no alarm clock in the room so I could set my 'wake-up'!! I also had issues with setting the air conditioner. Upon going down to reception and enquiring about these issues, I was advised: 1. They don't have alarm clocks in their rooms, but can offer a 'wake-up call' after 7am when the office is open. 2. The desk clerk did show me how to operate the air conditioner using the one in the office. He even turned mine on and adjusted it to suit my requirements, using a master control in the office. Great service there! But if you are staying at the hotel, it would pay to set your own 'wake-up alarm' using your watch, or what-ever else you have. That is, if before 7am.Be wary of the rooms either side of you, I could hear what was going on in the room next to me, talking, tv, etc. Breakfast in the morning is a 'set' menu, but I was surprised to find that the cooked breakfast and continental breakfast were two different prices! At other hotels, for about the same price, I received both cooked and continental for the one price. I even had to pay for a glass of orange juice! Coffee/tea and water was complimentary. Overall, I did enjoy enjoy my cooked breakfast. Overall, I was happy in some respects with the hotel, but disappointed in others during my stay. The location of the hotel is within an easy walking distance to the Christchurch Square etc. The Christchurch Casino is literally just...

The front desk told guest information that contradict their policy, more than once. 1.1 I had conversation with the concierge, about extending one night, the concierge said, they can provide the same rate that I had when I was doing the booking, just have to let them know before 10am morning in the next day, and when I go down to the front desk, the same person refuse to admit he said that last night, and the price when up. 1.2 The last night during I stay, I asked if there is a specific time to do the check out, without late fees incurred, and the staff said no, anytime from 7.30am to 9pm, and if the staff is not in the front desk, just put the key card into the specific mailbox. This is a quite surprise and unorthodox, so I asked him again, the staff is a young male caucasian, he said, "this is not what we do here, so yeah, anytime between 7.30am to 9pm is fine." Surprisingly, next day, I got a phone call from the front desk said I have already late for checkout, and apparently there is a late checkout fee $25/hr. In the phone the front desk yelled at me, and refuse to admit that.
Daily room services don't check amenities. If you run out of shampoos/shower gels and even hand wash, you need to go down stairs to ask for another bottle, and interestingly, some staff don't even know where they put them!
Slippers, toothbrush, and toothpaste are not provided.
There is a hair and blood spill like stain on the bathroom wall of my room.
My recommendation: Do not book with this one, you might end up...
Read moreThe room had a modern design. It was not all that big, but adequate and it was clean. It is actually more of a small apartment and with that you have a small kitchen, a fridge, a water boiler, and a washing machine plus dryer, which is very convenient.||The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. There was also a small table with two chairs and a comfy chair. There was no work desk though. There is also no safety deposit box.||There are not a lot of amenities. For example, I had to ask for a box with tissues. I got it, but it doesn't seem to be standard. There was also no soap at the sink in the bathroom, but I used the bottle that was in the shower.||The room is serviced once every 3 days, but I think you may get this more often if you ask for it. Not sure whether there is a charge though.||There is a small coffeeshop in the reception area, but this can be really crowded. So either plan your breakfast carefully, or do what I did and go out to get it elsewhere. There is a good coffeeshop just around the corner. Another one is a little further out, but it is less than a 10 minute walk.||Altogether, this is a good hotel. The price is on the high side, but the location, the cleanliness and the comfort of having a fridge and be able to do your laundry...
