Fresco Fisheries — Restaurant in Christchurch

I used to be a very happy cusotmer here but what's happened today is really humilating. We forgot to bring our wallets but we have apple pay set up in our phone. they told me they cannot do paywave(we can use our phone) but they can do bank transfer. We are very happy as we did not need to go back home and grab our wallets. After input the information, I asked my partner to double checked it to make sure the bank details are correct. after the transaction was done. we show them the our phone to prove that the payment is done. Later there is a man coming outside, keep asking us where is the money as if it is a bank transfer, the money should be there right now. We tried to explain we have done the payment and we showed our phone to that man as well. and he still asked us where the payment is. Basically he called us 'theives' as we planned to have a meal for 'free' even if we showed them we made the payment? This is really embrassing and humiliating for only $14.20? I also gave them my business card to tell them if anything wrong, please give me a call and I will not ruin my reputation for $14.20 especially in CHCH the Chinese community is so small. I have no reason to do that!

We left the shop in the end without their fish and chips and I cannot eat them because someone bascially called us theives.

My favorite fish n chip shop in Chch. First saw them on the YouTube food documentary, deeply touched by their story and decided to come for a try, and was “hooked” ever since. The food is relatively healthy among other fish n chip shop I’ve been, and tastes great, and a very modest price considering the quality of food here. What I enjoy most of all, is the conversation with shop owner, who has an old school charm, wisdom, and a great sense of humor, which are rarely seen in today. I always felt the guy’s like a Jedi in disguise, a zen master working humbly in a fish n chip shop. If you come, not only try their food, and have a few words with the owner as well! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stopped by the Fish Shop at Church Corner and was blown away! The fish is hands down the freshest I’ve had in Christchurch – you can taste the difference from the very first bite. The blue cod especially was outstanding, perfectly cooked and easily the best I’ve ever had. Friendly service, clean shop, and portions that really deliver on value.
