Katsubi Spitfire — Restaurant in Christchurch

Popped in today for lunch. Went for a Red Bowl with salads (no rice) & two toppings. Chose the teriyaki steak & katsu chicken. Food was a marginal four stars, mainly as the steak was a bit chewy and tasted a bit gamey so likely wasn’t fresh. The garlic mayo is very processed & akin to plastic. Salads were fresh & tasty and the katsu chicken was super crunchy.

Service was fast but the guy was on autopilot so didn’t mix the salads together despite me asking quite clearly. I mean, you can’t demand the earth on minimum wage but mixed salads wasn’t what I’d call a stretch. Robotic comes to mind.

Atmosphere consistent with this type of small chain outlet. Clean & tidy which was good.

Ok, maybe good, not...

Worst ramen I’ve ever had and expensive too. Does not look like the pictures advertised. Super salty, egg was well overcooked, noodles overcooked, pork was a tiny portion and dry.

Chicken on the counter does look like it’s been sitting out for a while.

I understand giving single use dishes for takeout, but a cardboard bowl that can’t be recycled for dining in, come on. It was barely busy and the staff could have easily handled some dishes.

Can’t access the disabled toilet easily due to the walkway being used for storage.

Honestly go somewhere else...

I have been here on three different occasions and i go just for the honey nut chicken tray at $9. My only issue would be with the temperature of the chicken. Where the chicken is served is not enclosed enough to maintain temperature.once cooked it would be perfect but if it sits in the bowls for too long your serving warm chicken at best.
