The delightful world of Kusamono Cafe. Imagine a place where coffee isn't just a drink, but a cozy companion for your adventures around the market or the perfect prelude to your perfect day.
Now, let's talk coffee. It’s good—not the best I've had, but definitely not the worst. It's the kind of coffee that makes you think, "This is quite nice," but also leaves room for you to keep searching for that elusive, perfect cup. It's like the reliable sidekick in your morning routine. It would make a perfect early afternoon coffee, a delightful mellow brew.
The staff? Exceptionally hospitable. They're the kind of people who make you feel like you've just walked into an old friend's home, even if you've never met them before. It's like a warm hug in cafe form.
As for the food, well, if it's as good as the coffee, I'll definitely be back. It's the kind of place that makes you want to linger a little longer, just to see if the food can match the cozy vibes and friendly faces.
So, if you find yourself in need of a welcoming spot with good coffee and the promise of potentially great food, Kusamono Cafe is the place to be. It's like a little haven of comfort amidst the hustle and bustle, where the journey is just as enjoyable as the...
Read moreWhat an awesome contribution to our wee community! I've wanted to get into Bonsai for a while now, but it's such a struggle to navigate the hobby online for a beginner, so I was beyond excited to see this cafe starting up. I had a brioche BLAT from the cabinet; the brioche left something to be desired, but otherwise it was delicious. I also had a matcha oat latte, and manuka leaf tea and both were delicious, especially the tea! The deep fried cauliflower with Sriracha mayo was to die for, and I can't wait to go back and try something else. Aaron (who I presume is the owner), was super friendly and great to talk to; tolerating my bonsai questions even while making our coffees and managing the wee morning rush.
Having this cafe open right across from the pottery capital feels like kismet! I've already got my friend and cousin on board to come make bonsai pots at the pottery capital, so we can have homemade bonsai pots for our bonsai workshop. Bonsai bonsai bonsai! Seems like a great opportunity for the two stores to set up a collab ;) I'm shouting praise for this place from the rooftops; I'm gonna get all of...
Read moreNice cafe. Tidy, great coffee and a pleasant atmosphere. When I saw the fish tacos on the specials menu, I was very keen to give them a try! Unfortunately they were very lacklustre. I love a good taco but sadly these lacked seasoning, vibrancy and flavour. I don’t want to be rude but if I can just give some constructive criticism - the fish definitely needed to be seasoned well as it was bland. Some lime, cilantro and a colourful & vibrant salsa would’ve really elevated the dish.
It was just really flavourless unfortunately and the presentation was a bit shabby (squished next to a bowl of chips) When I think of fish tacos I think diced fresh tomato, chilli, fresh cilantro, lime, or even a pineapple salsa. Is the corn from a can? I think if you go out for a meal, it needs to be better than what you could make at home for an easy weeknight dinner.
Sorry if this seems harsh. Nice coffee, nice baking, but the fish...
