Southern Asian Restaurant 潮州餐馆 — Restaurant in Christchurch

We are a large group of people, all family and friends, enjoying a wonderful dinner and time here. I parked the car in the outdoor parking lot of the nearby mall. Their porridge, soup, and stir fried ho fun are all delicious. And the portion of the meal is quite big, most of the food only have one size. I dunno other food that I haven’t tried, but for the food I mentioned below, one portion of each is able to be shared by two people. Recommend： 1.preserved egg and pork congee (this is porridge), super good 2.pork stomach with pepper soup(I dunno its actual name on the menu, bcos I can’t find the menu online, but maybe you tell them this soup they may understand what you want) After drinking this soup, it made my body feel warm from head to toes in the winter! 3.Chinese cabbage and vermicelli in claypot This one tastes very light, it is soup as well, and inside got very big beef meatball and fish ball. If someone they prefer to eat light meal, I would suggest you to try it. 4.stir fried ho fun It normally come with beef, but it is able to change the meat once request. Absolutely awful experience at this restaurant tonight. Today, we had a dinner for 15 people at this restaurant. Around 8:00 pm, one of the waitresses came over and started speaking to us in a rather unpleasant tone, saying they needed to clear the table. We said okay, and we politely asked what time the restaurant closes. She responded by saying they were closing soon, even though there were still three other tables with customers dining. We didn’t mind if they started clearing some plates, and we had already paid the bill in advance.

We were planning to stay and chat for a while longer, so we asked another waitress, and she told us that the restaurant closes at 9:00 pm, saying it was no problem and we could take our time. A short while later, the first waitress returned and continued clearing plates. We reminded her that the restaurant closes at 9:00 pm, but she insisted that they were finishing at 8:30 pm.

This was the first time we’ve ever been rushed out of a restaurant by the staff. The attitude was appalling. Strongly do not recommend...
