Zambrero Tower Junction — Restaurant in Christchurch

Probably one of the worst Mexican options in Christchurch. Having had Zambrero frequently in Australia, I had high hopes. However it was a completely different experience here. I ordered the nachos, and at $14.50 I expected a decent size serving, but the portions were terribly small. There was no option of adding beans as most Mexican places do. The lettuce came from a plastic pack pre shredded. Cheese was pre grated. The salsas (if you could call them that) looked like they were pre bought, as the colours looked dull and lacked freshness. Guacamole had no taste. And the chips were supermarket chips, not home made. I’ve given 2 stars as the gentleman who served me was polite and attentive. Disappointing trip, the food was nice, however the customer service was terrible, I did not see a single staff member smile once. not only that, I asked for a glass of water with my meal, and the older looking more experienced staff member that I asked, looked behind his shoulder and then back to me, and replied “we’ve run out of glasses.” I stood there for an awkward second thinking he’d come up with a solution but then he turned to the next customer. Also a younger staff member put cheese on my mates nachos without asking which she didn’t want, and then the older man at the till put both of our dishes onto one payment without asking or saying anything. I’ve ordered on the phone to pick it up. When I got there I opened the bag and looked at the food it looked like the girl worker served food for an 8 year old kid. Literally 1spoon of rice and everything else. So I made her do another one because it didn’t look good at all. She was so worried that the food will finish or something. I told her I pay extra with no problem. It came out as when I tasted the food the situation got worst! Guacamole doesn’t taste like guacamole, Sour cream doesn’t taste like sour cream.
