Update to the review below. This place used to be great, and now it's mediocre. Undercooked chips. Redundant breaded potato slices. Thin, pale fish. Perhaps they changed owners, or gave up on life. I hope they get their sense of mission back. The atmosphere is very standard kiwi fish and chips, which may or may not be to your taste, but it was perfect for us. The snapper fillets and battered oysters were nicely cooked and not at all greasy. The chips were a perfect golden hue, and just the right mixture of more sturdy chips and crispy smaller ones. Tomato sauce in a bottle instead of a pottle would have been slightly nicer, and free tap water would have been good, but overall a fantastic lunch for two for less than $30. We left half the chips behind, and not because they weren't delicious, they were, but because we were full.

I had the pleasure of enjoying fish and chips from Riba fish&chips. It was absolutely delightful! The chef, who is also the owner, did an incredible job—frying the fish to perfection. Unlike many other places where the batter is often soggy, here it was wonderfully crisp, light, and golden. The chips were equally impressive—fresh, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. At other places, I’ve often felt like the chips were fried yesterday, microwaved, and then refried, leaving them dry and unappetizing. But not here! Everything tasted fresh and spot on. This is easily one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Highly recommend!

I stopped here to buy some fish and chips and take them to Victoria mountain to enjoy my food with a view over Auckland skyline. They offer different kinds of fish which was the first time for me to have fish options.the most expensive was the blue cod for 9$ which was the cheapest I have seen in New Zealand so far. I took my blue cod, chips, tartar and aioli sauce to go and boy what a meal and what a sunset I had.

Decided on a visit to Devenport. The hunger pains came and fish and chips were the 'go to' meal for dinner. The first establishment was cramped and very expensive. 1 Hoki and chips for $10.00! After visiting other eateries stumble across RIba. The place was tidy and the staff friendly and accomodating. Their specials were resonably priced as were the burgers. Fish, chips, potato fritter and the Beef Specialty burger all for only $20.00! The fish was beautiful, the fries were well portioned and crispy and the burger... HUGE! Enough for 2 people! Cheese, pineapple, mushrooms, tomato, lettuce, meat pattie and bacon all between 2 massive buns for only $9.00! Tasty tasty tasty! The biggest burger I've ever had from a fish and chip shop. Great meal, great price! Get there people. Devenport, you're spoilt...
