This is a beautiful building with great staff, great icecream, but having booked a private event at the Vic, the current manager made every little thing into a problem. It was a very important and special night to me, yet he was constantly on at me about things that he wasn't happy with - things that he had already agreed to. The foyer is very small and he had hung the photo board backdrop where he thought it best to go, then complained when the photographer set himself up to take photographs - there was nowhere alternative position for him. He complained when I set up a small table to sort tickets to prevent the mayhem of 90 people coming in to a small foyer and not knowing how to proceed (they had purchased a complimentary beverage with their ticket and I had to direct them using our tickets). He put our volunteer chorus in the cinema to sing and then refused to allow anyone into the cinema to hear them. The foyer time (for photos, chorus performance, drinks) was all pre-arranged prior to the event, and it was only 30 minutes prior to the event. The manager spent the whole 30 minutes complaining to me. Following the movie, he came out directly to me and demanded immediate payment of the balance owing. While I was trying to enjoy my evening and have a great time - a special time with friends and family and people that had travelled a long way, he kept hounding me and complaining. He was unprofessional, rude and difficult. We will never make a private booking at this venue again and I wouldn't recommend...
Read moreCool building. Great staff.
However - it smells like an old op shop x 4 in the theatre
For a movie the side lots of chairs are useless as are the front 2 rows. We were in a side block, just before the film started a staff member announced anyone on the sides that would like to move to the front 2 rows go for it. So we did and my neck hurt immediately craning, we almost moved back to the side.
The quality also seemed unusual, just slightly out of focus. Can only assume it’s an old projector.
The crowd this place attracts are also not ideal. The people to the left of me talked through the first third of the film, the people behind me the second third of the film and some more people to the back right, the last third of the film.
At least 6 people came and went through the film and the door placement means the whole left side of the theatre right down to the front rows is illuminated as they come and go.
And there was no one seating patrons which caused unnecessary confusion for some. It could be argued that everyone should be able to count from 1 to 20 and figure out if 1 is on the left 20 is going to be 19 seats over to the right but they just couldn’t understand and the poor children they were hassling for being in their seats weren’t able to correct them in any helpful way.
We chose this theatre thinking it would be quieter than the main players (events, Hoyts etc) but I won’t...
Read moreSeriously disappointed. Was really looking forward to taking the family a unique movie experience at the historic Vic but unfortunately cinema 4 was a huge let down. Seating wasn't comfortable at all nor was it securely fixed to the floor. Gelato was delicious and the staff were lovely. But when I was accidentally poured a sav instead of a Chardonnay, the owner (older gentleman) stuck his nose into my glass and snapped back at me saying "its Chardonnay" and wouldn't let the staff replace it with a freshly poured and made them pour the wine back into the bottle. Besides the fact I am HIGHLY ALLERGIC to Sav blanc wine... we have COVID circling around and it was incredibly disgusting I was given back a glass of wine that a complete stranger had just stuck his nose in and was told to drink it! Health and safety will...
