My partner (19M) and I (19FM) attempted to dine here at around 8pm. I had my ID and my partner did not. We were told we were unable to dine here because it was an 18+ bar although we had specified we would be fine without alcohol. They said cops will come in and raid and they will get in trouble although I simply believe we were discriminated against because of our age and what we looked like. I am brown and was wearing an average cotton skirt and jumper and my white partner was wearing jeans and a Nike jumper, which may not have been the attire usually worn to such a nice place but I believe we still should have been able to dine here. There are no laws saying we cannot dine at a place serving alcohol without ID, unless of course we are asking for alcohol. If a couple came here to dine with their 16 year old son or daughter, I know they would not be turned away and told to leave. This experience was not the greatest and left us quite annoyed, although it’s fine as we spent our $170 at Cafe Hung Viet, a delicious restaurant down the road. Their sign doesn’t look flashy at all but they were much more welcoming than Signal Hill were, and the food was 11/10. Didn’t expect the food to be so good, I was surprised! The Signal Hill Team have a few things they could learn from Cafe Hung Viet. Stop judging your customers, as you lost some great...
Read moreWhat a lovely venue! We were a group of three (plus dog) that booked for Saturday lunch upon a friends recommendation. The venue itself is lovely with both great indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are also super friendly and helpful and really go above and beyond to create a lovely atmosphere. We ordered a number of dishes to share - half a dozen oysters (I did not have but the others said they were very fresh, big and delicious), the triple cooked Argria potatoes - so delicious with crispy potatoes and a delicious truffle creme fraiche sauce (a definite must order), the fish of the day - very fresh and light flavours as well, the cauliflower steak (wouldn’t quite call it a cauliflower steak but was a nice dish) as well as the lamb-chetta which was well cooked and delicious. We also ordered a side green salad (nothing exciting but a good accompaniment to our mains) We really enjoyed our meal and left very full and satisfied. Would definitely recommend and will be definitely somewhere...
Read moreA friend and I tried the express lunch, today - good value at $25 for one small plate and one large plate, plus a glass of house wine for an extra $8. The duck liver parfait was delicious, as usual. The fish sliders, though tasty, could have been served with a little less sauce, and maybe a small amount of coleslaw or rocket/salad, to go with the small portion of fries. The service was very friendly and attentive, which is always nice.
We had the most perfect celebratory dinner, last night, at Signal Hill. The setting is lovely and the whole place has a great atmosphere, with friendly and attentive staff. Glad to see favourites (duck liver parfait, triple cooked agrias) still on the menu. The deep fried chicken dish has now been perfected and the snapper was beautifully...
