Ordered takeaway for dinner Wednesday night. I noted that the butter chicken had cashew listed as an ingredient but tikka masala did not, so asked to confirm that the tikka masala did not have cashew. Lucky I did - turns out that they pre-make curry sauces (fair enough) and bulk them all out with cashew. Even the curries without cashew on the ingredients list had cashew, so please take note if allergic. We were then recommended mango chicken and saag chicken as not having cashew. We ordered these both mild. Mango chicken was oversweet and sickly at the same time, in an unpleasant too-cheesy way that made me wonder whether there could be an issue with the cream, and there was way too much sauce for the amount of chicken in it. Saag chicken was a watery grey-green bulked out with onions and what clearly looked like red tandoori chicken fillets. This dish did not look like the spinach-rich dishes I've had in the past. We ordered a hot lamb vindaloo which was tasty and meat was tender. Palak paneer was OK. Even though our allergic member ate from the recommended dishes they had an allergic reaction at dinner, so I expect either there's undisclosed cashew or cross contamination. Rice is provided with curries,...
Read moreWe visited Te Anau from Melbourne and stayed for two nights, and both nights we chose to dine at Radha’s Kitchen for dinner. The Indian food was absolutely delicious, and we really enjoyed the meals both times.
The younger staff member who served us was excellent, friendly, attentive, and quick to respond to everything we needed. He made our experience smooth and enjoyable.
However, we did notice that the bald gentleman (possibly the manager or owner) seemed a bit stressed and came off with a bit of an attitude. It may have just been the busy Easter break period and the pressure of the crowd, which we understand, but as customers, we’d hope not to feel that tension during our dining experience.
We were seated at a table for six right in the middle of the restaurant, which had a pillar blocking the view, making it slightly inconvenient when trying to communicate with the staff. That’s not a huge issue, but just something to note.
Overall, the food and service from most of the team were great, and we’d definitely recommend the place, it was just that one aspect of the experience that took away from an otherwise...
Read moreI would give half a star not even 1 star to this business. Worst customer service I have faced to date. The main manager had no management skills and had no idea how to talk to customers. Completely rude. Such people give restaurants a bad name. The manager was completely rude when taking orders and also delivering the order once it was ready. He also missed one dish on our order. He was happy taking the money but couldn't deliver the goods. Naans were more like rotis and starters were salty. Overall a bad experience. He also told us not to sit on the outside tables and that we will have to take our food elsewhere since they were closing soon. The restaurant was still open 30mins after we left. If you want to be in the hospitality business, learn to treat the customers with respect. It doesn't matter if TeAnau is a busy place or a quite place. All staff should be competent in dealing with customers in the right manner as well as running business correctly. If you or your staff are incompetent, get them trained up. Don't...
