5 star review and great all rounder for a small town cafe!!
Drove from Queenstown to Te Anau for a quick lunch to be pleasantly surprised by the eggs Benedict and seafood chowder. I had the seafood chowder for $15 and boy was it a huge surprise to see a decent serving portion of soup accompanying with 2 well spread and toasted garlic bread!
The lady at the counter was very warm and welcoming and apologised for the wait multiple times even though it didn’t take too long for us to place our orders at the counter.
Seafood chowder was value for money, hearty and very tasty along with great customer service made this cafe a very enjoyable first time experience at Te Anau (and my first favourite meal in NZ within 5 days).
Don’t be fooled - while this cafe does not look as flashy as the other local cafes, the food were great and so enjoyable we were keen to go back!...
Read moreMy simple order took over 20 minutes to come out. Then it had HAIR in it — I took one bite of my toasted sandwich to find several hairs melted into the cheese. This was very gross and off-putting, so I sent it back. The "cheese" itself was this weird lumpy stuff smeared over the bread, it didn't even taste good. I had to take it off with a spoon. One of the items I ordered was a premade sandwich from the food case — even that didn't arrive for over half an hour, after I went back up to the counter to ask if they'd forgotten it. Nothing was served with utensils or napkins, I had to get up 3 times between checking on my order and getting things that should've been provided. Amateurish. I gave this one star because they gave me a refund for my sandwich. Other than that, I had a terrible experience and won't...
Read moreI went to this café this morning and asked the guy at the counter if we could charge our phone while having breakfast there. To my surprise, he said it’s not for customers ,even though there were plenty of outlets available. Honestly, that was really disappointing. In a tourist area, you would expect local businesses to be a bit more considerate and welcoming to visitors. Small gestures like that go a long way in creating a good impression. I cannot help but feel a bit disheartened by the experience especially since we were genuine customers just trying to enjoy our meal. It made me wonder if the response would have been the same if I were not Asian. Overall, it left a really bad feeling...
