Met a friend here for coffee and counter food on a busy Saturday morning. My Corned beef toasti (similar taste to a Reuben) was tangy with mustard. Very good. My friend had the potato salad, but he found when he started eating that it had a bit much chilli & he couldn't finish. We sat for ages catching up - no pressure from staff to move, which I really appreciate (we made sure we weren't stopping anyone from being seated). Eventually when we were ready to go, the staff member who came to clear the table noticed the half-eaten dish and asked if it had been ok. He was genuinely concerned and immediately offered to replace the dish with another when he heard why it wasn't finished. We were happy to just leave, but his real interest in our dining experience was a sign of a wonderful customer-focused attitude. We will...
Read moreI visited this café today and was really disappointed by the way a young woman enquiring about a job was treated. The older woman behind the till spoke to her in a way that was unnecessarily rude and condescending. The young woman was polite and respectful, but instead of being met with basic courtesy, she was publicly criticised for things she hadn’t even done yet.
Job hunting is hard enough, especially when walking in cold — no one deserves to be humiliated like that. The exchange ended up drawing a queue of customers who couldn’t help but overhear, and it felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable for everyone present. It is the kind of place that forces other places in the same market to rise to its standards, so that standard then becomes the norm. There is both a cabinet option and a menu. The coffee is consistently high quality (beans are towards the slightly more bitter end of the spectrum rather than sweeter). Today I had a cinnamon scroll and the person that I was with had a custard square. Both were excellent. The coffee is always good. I do not remember ever being disappointed by anything off the menu. Go there, you will not be...
