Gave the cook a go with new owners Good George. All I can say is I am disappointed a place I loved going has gone in such a terrible direction. Group of four went along for what hoped to be a quiet Sunday lunch but was met with loud and obnoxious noise. While the girl singing was quite good, the volume was way too high which prevented us from having a conversation. We had to yell at each other to be heard which was not really something I expected to happen at that time of day. Food was delivered promptly however it was mediocre and overpriced. I had the fish and chips which were way overcooked and bland. Decor was quite pretentious and a little over the top if I am completely honest. Sad to see most of the great staff members from the previous business had not remained with the new owners. Also sad to see everything that was good about The Cook had vanished completely. Only compliment I have is to the staff who were friendly and accommodating. However due to the ambience and 'nothing special' food I will not...
ย ย ย Read moreGood George "MASSIVE FAIL!!" Can not commend !! The food is at best mediocre pub grub , but priced at fine dinning restaurant prices .
In my opinion only the truly gullible gourmand would pay such inflated prices .
Due to the prices I chose the $ 26 meat with 2 sides.., veges and social slaw. The meat was Brisket ( the cheapest meat out ) it arrived plain and bland...no form of sauce or gravy... condiments cost extra... The cold slaw was also plai and bland .. Vege consisted of 2 small pieces of broccoli with a few slices of pickled gherkin..
All around me I could see other dinners whose plates consisted for a large part of FREEZER TO FRYER FAST FOOD... Chips ,hash brown nuggets ,and similar deep fryer foods....
The same can be had at any local greasy spoon at far cheaper prices..
Service was slow. Meals took ages .
But the biggest fail was definitely the junk food at exorbitant prices. Definitely not value for money here .. DEFINITELY WILL NOT REPEAT...

A few points, my food took a half hour for an entree and a main, which is where I'd be getting to the beginning of annoyance, I would understand if not for the fact that the pizza mostly tasted like ranch with a very vague hint of chicken and bacon, and the crust resembled a soggy toasted English muffin. You could taste the potato skin on the wedges which I could eat but wouldn't say I was fond of. The aioli served alongside the wedges was very mild, barely resembling garlic.
The couched seats inside were black leather, accompanied by not much air conditioning made the wait and meal rather humid and sticky, you'd think during summer they'd make a larger effort to keep customers comfortable.
The service was professional but not warm. The environment was very pleasing to the eye and the ambiance resembled the local pub
Not the best service, bit pricey for the quality of...
