Second Visit Review
This was our second visit. Our first visit was a bit average, so we decided to give it another try.
The Good Parotta The parotta was crispy, flaky, and well-prepared. It wasnât hard even after 5 minutes, which is impressive. They did a great job creating an authentic Kerala-style parotta.
Beef Fry We explored their beef options and were informed by the staff that the beef fry and beef mulakittathu were quite similar. We opted for the beef fry, which turned out to be a decent choice. The taste was good without an overpowering use of pepper, making it enjoyable for my child as well. It isnât the darker, very dry type of beef fry but still doesnât disappoint.
Chicken 65 This was undoubtedly one of the best Chicken 65 dishes Iâve had in New Zealand! Everything, from the masala to the texture, was spot-on. If youâre a fan of Chicken 65, this dish is a must-try.
The Not-So-Good Al-Faham Chicken The chicken didnât seem fully cooked, as we noticed red spots inside the meat, especially around the wings. We mentioned this to the server and took the dish home to cook it again. We later used it for a chicken sandwich.
Chicken Roast The chicken roast was unexpectedly sweet, similar to our previous experience with their beef roast. It seems they use tomato paste or sauce in all their roast dishes, giving them a sweet flavor. If youâre not expecting sweetness, I would recommend avoiding their roast dishes. It would be great if they could consider preparing these dishes as proper roasts rather than with a Chinese-style twist.
Other Observations The restaurant itself has a pleasant ambiance, but the flooring poses a safety concern. Itâs quite slippery, especially for the desks and benches, and even a small water spill could lead to accidents. While this isnât directly the restaurant's fault, itâs something they should address, perhaps by using more slip-resistant materials for the dining area.
Service The staff, particularly the person assisting at the counter, were polite and kind, which added to the positive experience.
Overall While there were a couple of disappointing dishes and concerns about the floor, itâs still a decent place to dine in Hamilton. Based on our experience, Iâd rate it 4 stars. With some improvements, this place has the potential to be...
