Chigop is another recent arrival in Henderson’s main street opening in 2023. They specialize in authentic gopchang and other classic South Korean cuisine. Once inside the restaurant you’ll find a dining experience that every neighbourhood should have — a welcoming, intimate small space perfect for both group meals or dinner dates.

The menu at Chigop is curated in to sections featuring grill, spicy, hot pots, chicken dishes, and chef's specials. The passionate team of two managing the restaurant are happy to help you navigate the menu and any cultural unfamiliarity. While gopchang (intestines) are their signature dishes, there are plenty of other selections catering to various tastes. You can sample classics like tteokbokki and kimchi pancakes (which is perfect for pairing with traditional soju).

Popular dishes include tender pork belly (samgypeopsal), flavourful beef brisket (chadol) and a variety of succulent Korean Fried Chicken options including the spicy gcova chicken with its tangy sauce. The chicken dishes can be ordered half and half to try a few options.

Some of the meals also provide an immersive experience like the DIY seaweed rice balls (jumeokbap), where you're provided a plastic glove to craft these savoury treats with a salty seaweed flavour. Most dishes are designed for sharing, reflecting Korean dining culture, which emphasizes communal eating and social connection.

To complement your meal, Chigop offers a selection of Korean beers, soju and soft drinks.

So surprised to find a place like this in West Auckland! This is not your ordinary korean bbq place. They still offer the pork belly (samgyeopsal), soup base dish and fried chicken on their menu. But 치곱Chi Gop is a must visit for the adventurous palate for beef and pork entrails/innards. It is so good! For people non familiar eating innards, it is definitely an acquired taste. But it is worth the try! Portion sizes are perfect for sharing. Awesome place to share a meal with friends with a thrist quenching alcohol.
