This is my favourite Korean restaurant and I don’t hesitate to recommend this place when my non-Korean friends ask for recommendations. They serve the best Korean food in Auckland, and arguably in NZ. I felt complelled to write this review as I’ve found one of the reviews below by Sue Yieu regarding “raw ribs” extremely misleading and untrue as I believe I witnessed her experience, on the Auckland Anniversary Day (29 Jan 2018) around 8pm to be exact. I was seated right behind her and it was very clear this woman was intentionally creating a scene, which I suspect was to score a free meal. She had finished the whole plate of meat except the rib bone, and was complaining about the little redisual meat on the bone not been cooked through. First of all, that bone is not really intended for consumption. Most people including myself don’t eat it, it’s there to demonstrate that the meat was from rib (because Koreans love ribs). And if you really wanted to eat the residual meat on the bone and found it a bit too raw (btw it’s cooked to medium and it’s beef so it doesn’t have any health and safety implications) just ask the staff to cook it longer. This woman instead was yelling and whining in a raised voice at three staff members including the owners in turn, who were extremely polite and tried to appease with her, and demanded the whole plate (which she and her partner had clearly enjoyed and finished) to be replaced. When this demand wasn’t fulfilled she writes the false, detrimental review to retaliate. Unbelievable. Please stop scamming people and abusing the review system. It’s reprehensible and shameful. With her prolonged yelling we started feeling uncomfortable and cut our dinner short, feeling sorry for the restaurant staff. She was the rudest person I’ve ever seen not the restaurant staff. Have reported her review and requested Google to remove it, not too sure when that is going to...
Read moreA much higher end Korean BBQ restaurant that is justified as the entire dining experience is top notch. I was afraid there were no tables available as I hadn't booked but I was warmly welcomed on arrival. The restaurant has a beautiful interior, almost like Victorian style with a large and bright kitchen. Their menu has a range of freshly cut meats and food items and they recently have a summer menu consisting of many cold and marinated seafoods. We got two types of meat and from their seasonal menu we got the crab cold noodles and marinated raw prawns. The bonus to this reataurant is that it's charcoal BBQ. Everything was delicious, especially the seasonal menu. While you are cooking and eating, staff are constantly looking after their customers and will help you grill your meat and changing your BBQ rack for you. The crab cold noodles contain an entire marinated crab with spicy noodles (even though I was expecting crab meat) which was a bit difficult to eat but you can always ask staff to give you a pair of those disposal gloves. This place is a real treat and I appreciate such attentive customer service from staff. The price point would be considered on the higher side but is justified with the high quality of customer...
Read moreAlthough I like their food, I would not visit there again.
I have been this restaurant numerous times with non-Korean guests to serve and introduce Korean food to them. However, the customer service is definitely getting worse which put me quite embarrassed situations several times. They charge the higher prices than other Korean restaurant and positioned them as the high end, but the service is not at that level. Most of times, they keep charging you if you ask to fill the side dishes which is very unlikely happening in other normal Korean restaurant.
The recent one was, I asked the owner to generate a GST receipt for the reimbursement from my company, but the owner wrote food items on the small paper in Korean. I told him that it could not be used as no one could read Korean on this receipt nor proper. But he just waved his hand (gesture of go away) and asked me to explain to the company it was the receipt for the meal (insisting his Korean way of thinking!).
And of course, I could not get any reimbursement with...
