Thai Yum Food Hut — Restaurant in Kaipātiki

We decided to try this place after reading positive reviews online. Strangely, they didn't give rice with our takeaway meals - first time we've ever experienced that in our many years of buying Thai food throughout Auckland. This wouldn't have been so bad if the portions were larger, but they were the smallest we'd ever seen for takeaway Thai. The guy's response when querying the lack of rice? "It's late, we're about to close, no rice left sorry". It was barely 8:45pm, they were still taking orders, and there were two tables of guests eating, including one who'd just arrived. No rice at a Thai restaurant? That's like no ice in an igloo. Given the abundance of Thai restaurants in the area, they really should be trying to rise above the rest. Unfortunately we won't...

First time trying Thai food as a Canadian in New Zealand. It was highly recommended you me by a local here as 'the best place for Thai food in Auckland'. Overall the food was good and they were able to accommodate to my spice levels (haha). I ordered the beef black garlic, chicken pineapple fried rice, tofu drunken noodles, and shrimp red Thai curry with a side of rice (at an additional cost of $2 NZD), to try to get a variety of food. My favorite was the drunken noodles, which was a very Thai classic mix of spicy, salty, sweet, and sour. I found the red Thai curry a bit too runny and watered down for my liking, but it was very flavorful otherwise. Overall, I would go back again when I'm craving some Thai food!

We have been been to this a frequent diner at this restuarant for the last 5 years. Unfortunately place has changed hands. The staff are rude. When we asked for no chicken in our pad thai and instead extra egg we were charged $2 extra dollars. We dont have a problem with paying extra if we were adding items but there was no chicken. So basicly we paid $2 for 1 egg. To top it all off we got it home to find there wasn't even extra egg. We are guttered this place is not the same as we will not be...
