TheatreWorks, Birkenhead (formerly Mairangi Players) — Attraction in Kaipātiki

I had the absolute pleasure of attending "The Importance of Being Earnest," while I was in Auckland for a weekend getaway from the South Island. I must say, it was a brilliant experience from start to finish.

The production was thoroughly entertaining and the impeccable delivery of Wilde's witty dialogue had the audience in stitches throughout the entire play.

What truly stood out, however, was the passion and dedication of the entire theatre company. It was evident that every member of the cast and crew poured their heart and soul into this production.

In a world where big-budget productions often dominate the theatre scene, it's refreshing to see a smaller theatre company deliver such a stellar performance. They prove that talent, creativity, and a genuine love for the craft can shine just as brightly on a smaller stage.

Today, a group of nine of us traveled from Orewa to Birkenhead to see "Pooh Bear." This was our first TheatreWorks production, and it was definitely worth the trip. The cast put on a fabulous show, and their passion for their art was truly beautiful to see.

Each character felt familiar and was expertly depicted. The costumes, props, and storyline were all excellent, contributing to a delightful experience.

Our only concern was that some of our group of seniors chose to sit a few rows back from the front and it was sometimes difficult to hear. We look forward to attending more shows in the future and hopefully our support will help TheatreWorks invest in the sound equipment they may be hoping for.

Very cosy and friendly venue run by volunteers with a big heart. Even though is an old venue with just 72 seats, great theatre plays can be seen on stage there all the time. They are put in stage by directors and actors who made theatre a great passion of their life. TheatreWorks Birkenhead is a very good place where you and your family can experience, at a very cheap price, a relaxing evening which it will help you to recharge your "batteries " after a very busy week of our modern life.
