Glamp Grounds — Restaurant in Māngere-Ōtāhuhu

What a great space in the Auckland International Airport!

Located in a mezzanine area above the main departure hall, where most of the cafes, shops, and bars are, the Glamp Grounds is a surprisingly large area to go to before you fly out!

The restaurant is a wonderful space for families, groups, and even just the average solo traveller (like myself!).

I had about 30mins or so before my gate was open so I decided to pop upstairs for a drink and was so charmed by the place I also ordered the Bok Choy and Mushroom dumplings as a snack - they were so fresh and flavoursome, I wish I had time to order a full course!

The space is so open, fresh, and has a cool summer/beach camp vibe. There was heaps of families there enjoying the play spaces and free games. But also quite a few young solo travellers, who like me we're making use of the numerous charging outlets, and cute tables with great views to people watch.

There was no queue for food or drinks. The staff were super friendly and efficient. It's now going to be my go-to hang...

Sad to leave this review as the food was pretty good for airport food and most* of the staff were nice. Still, this was my worst restaurant experience in NZ, it was ruined for us by the waitress/bartender with the chin-length dark hair, who was rude to my husband, seemed incompetent about taking orders, dropped and broke some glasses (happens to everyone and not a big deal by itself, but with everyone else) and generally made our experience unpleasant. It was hard for me to get along with her, but she was very snappy and brazen with my husband. Sadly, a good place can be quite ruined by a poor wait staff. Everyone else seemed nice but she took our orders so she really was the face...

I was waiting for my flights in the Auckland airport after waking up early in the morning we walked pass this cafe and saw this gorgeous looking asian girl with glasses, she woke me up instantly. It was at that moment I decided to eat in the cafe just so she can serve me. She sat me down with a massive smile on her face which brightened up my morning. I ordered a drink and some fries also wanted to ask for her number but I didn’t have the courage to do that at the time, if you see this review could you please help me ask for her number? That will be much appreciated! Oh also the food...
