Luscious Cafe & Catering — Restaurant in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

Food was nice ,But we asked for two pieces of toast when our breakfast arrived as we did not realise it did not come with toast. It took 16 minutes for this to arrive we had eaten our breaky by then . It came with jam which we did not ask for . We just wanted two pieces of toast. We left with out paying for our toast . This was not on purpose, they phoned reminded us and said we owed $7 ( expensive ) I said may I have your bank account to pay in .No not possible . I went back to cafe and paid and tried to share this was disappointing the cost of the two pieces of toast and the delay. The Lass talked over me did not acknowledge that this could have been a disappointment. Just said the toast comes as ciabatta with jam and the delay was such as it went into the cue with the kitchen. Wow that was helpful not! Kinda not encouraged...

Stopped here to try this place out. Just looking at it from the outside somehow made me feel calm and peaceful (the honest truth), On entrance you are greeted by the most cheerful and friendly lady at the front counter even the gentleman who walked from the back as soon as we entered so I’m assuming they owned the place? We ordered 2 flat whites and grabbed 1 lemon curd loaf and a carrot mini cake, the cake and loaf were DELICIOUS!! (I could’ve eaten another one but wanted to leave room for the eggs benedict. Oh the coffee wasn’t the best we tasted so a minus. My husband ordered the feast. Presentation (I know it’s not a 5 star restaurant) but I’ve seen better at cheaper cafes. Eggs benedict was ok, but like I said I’ve tasted better at cheaper cafes. As nice as the customer service was, I can honestly say, food is not...

I have been coming here for years and the food was great and experience prior. This is addressed to the server who came up and asked if “I’ve been there for an hour” so someone else can take my seat and came and asked for me again to “move” when I just received my food and barely in the cafe for 20mins. Please do not rush your customers because that ruins their experience. Also, if you have regular customers that has a specific seating spot, please put a reserved sign to indicate to others not to take their seat and to save other customers mornings being ruined. Nothing against the cafe, but I think she could’ve handled the situation differently by simply putting out a reserved sign. On a better note, the caramel loaf is to die for but I don’t think I’ll be returning...
