ONE - Onehunga Neighbourhood Eatery — Restaurant in Maungakiekie-Tāmaki

Came from Hamilton couple weeks ago to visit my friend and chose to stop here for a drink and small bite to eat. Their menu is lovely and unique. I ordered the breakfast burrito that came with avocado , but when it came to my table it didnt have any in it. So i just went to the counter and asked nicely if the kitchen had any avo as it was meant to have some, and if they could please put it on the side. They seemed really annoyed but i just wanted my avo. They told me to sit back down and theyll put some on the side for me. After a minute or two she came back out with my plate and then a whole avocado and proceeded to bang the unripe avo on the table right infront of me and told me they cant give me any cause its unripe. I just found it really unprofessional and a bit rude as I really didnt want to cause any trouble and I told them at the counter if there isnt any avocado thats okay I just wanted to see if they had some. Maybe next time if they are unripe it would be good to tell people while they are ordering instead of coming out and banging it infront of the customer. I was enjoying my meal until this- it made me feel like they thought I was dumb. It had avo on the menu, didnt come with any and i just simply asked. A simple “so sorry the chef said the avos arent ready” would of...

I recently placed a review for ONE Onehunga after visiting with my wife, for brunch, she had previously been there and had a great experience...I had a less than great meal and service. In reply to that review the asked me to give them another chance..we did today. The difference was night and day, where to start....the tea was fantastic and they had sweetener ( none last time). The big breakfast ( One breakfast) was much improved, seasoned mushroom and tomatoes, great eggs, perfect lightly cooked bacon. The service was quick, polite and professional. Now the small things....there were staff cleaning, not just tables but other surfaces when not busy, fresh flowers on the tables, the owner training the staff in quite periods....very impressive. I am really pleased to have been proven wrong in regard to my previous review and thank you to the owners for their pleasant reply to that review and the conversation I had with one of the owners...

It’s a cafe by Day, and an Everybody Eats by night (Thurs - Sun, 6pm to 8pm).

This place is absolutely incredible! Previously the location of Bean There, ONE has everything you need and more. The structure of the building has remained but the decor has been tastefully updated for a sleek and simple look. I loved it before and I love it now.

The menu is easy to read and the food is delightful. Every bite was an explosion of flavour and the quality was fabulous too. The potato rosti is definitely in my top 3 right now!

The staff all have great attitudes and it was a pleasure to be in their presence. I also had the honour of meeting the owner, and he was so kind and made us feel like we were meant to be there.

If you’re looking for a meeting room, ONE also has a Creative ThinkSpace upstairs on the middle level.

Definitely a great reward after...
