âAverage at bestâ. Walked in and the staff were wearing day care uniforms, and proceeded to the counter as they do not âseat youâ or come to your table to take your order. This is when I noticed one of the driest looking sausage rolls Iâve ever seen in the window with a sign under it - â best sausage rolls in Hawkeâs bayâ????? The âboysâ proceeeded to order eggs bene and big breakfasts. All of a sudden our orders sporadically arrived probably 10 minutes apart, and a plethora of assaults ensues- watery scrambled eggs, half runny half boiled poached eggs, barely toasted $1 white bread, barely cooked tomatoes, tastleless bland sausages- you get the idea, the list goes on. The âhomemade English muffin bunâ for the brothers eggs bene looked worse than the ones you see in the supermarket. Have never been so disappointed, will NEVER return anywhere near that place. If you are reading this, then yes. A very cynical review. After only ending up in that place because of the array of very positive reviews however I felt the need for some truth. I just wouldnât want anyone to get misleaded as we were. God bless the staff but please, change your chef, change your products, and for the love of God put some love into your...
Read moreHubby, the freak of nature that he is, been able to eat pastries to his heart's content while still sporting a six-pack, insisted on a 45 minute drive to sample a custard square he found featured in the New York Times. So we arrived to this cafe, eerily standing right in the middle of an otherwise industrial area. Very cute little oasis of coziness.
We were lucky to purchase the last said custard stack of the day + another very homey looking pastry and coffee. While hubby took a trip down memory lane, thinking of his grandma's custard cake and all, I however, have already been spoiled by the cafe culture of this beautiful country and my grandmother can't bake, so was not very impressed, and since I'm the one writing this review, well, three stars it is.
If you are a fan of traditional home style baking, you won't be...
Read moreEggs Benedict x 2 with bacon was what we ordered and it was raw, just warmed up bacon and poached eggs, very lightly cooked so were completely runny, toast was just warm bread, and NO BUTTER on it. This was all drowning in hollandaise sauce to hide the raw food probably. Please learn to cook bacon properly asap, it is not the same as ham, we do not eat it raw! Any good cook knows this. Eggs need to be cooked properly for a few minutes at least or thereâs a risk of salmonella for people. Who is cooking? Because they donât know how to cook bacon or eggs. These meals were inedible. This is appalling for a well-known cafe. The fact that we were disappointed is an understatement. Thank you for refunding our money without a fuss. Waitstaff were kind...
