Mt Victoria Reserve Walking Paths — Attraction in North Island

The walkways around Matairangi / Mt. Victoria are well maintained, with good signage, and mostly easy to walk. There are some single file paths and tracks shared with mountain bikers that can be a bit more demanding, but if you stick to the main paths you can do them in jandals. The best thing about it is that on a weekday you can be up there completely on your own and not meet anybody for an hour (if that's your kind of thing), and you're still just 10 minutes away from the CBD. I go here regularly, can be slippery in places and steep, signs are not very clear. Be careful of cyclists who appear from nowhere and fast.

But it’s a nice place to walk. I wouldn’t recommend walking up hill to the lookout unless your fit, but get a Uber to the top then...

Another lovely walking path in the city of Wellington.

I love the fact that we can park our car nearby and walk around the path. There are a view to choose from and many of them provide lovely views, green forest in the city, and tranquil ambience.
