Dakota Bar — Restaurant in North Island

Called the owner in January to arrange timings for mechanical bull for my sisters hens do in Feb, they said they would have it operating from 5pm we arrived between 5-6 and the place was full of atleast 3 stags and hens waiting for the bull we had spent a lot of money over the few hours we were there waiting on setup they were very power trippy behind the bar also, not sure if it was even set up in the end. If it did go up it would have only been for 30 minutes tops, when we said we would go and have a drink elsewhere and come back after waiting 2 hours they set it up almost so we would not get to do it at all and you know what for planning i would have rather just been told that rather than mucking us around. So our time and money were not wasted. It put a huge damper on the night, the bouncer was also a HUGE power tripper. In the future I would never rely on timings said or this owners word and plan a backup activity as these guys were an absolute joke. Would NEVER recommend having a Hens or stags here ever go somewhere where they respect people and are happy to treat you as a human being. Absolute laughable experience tonight! Door staff gave poor knowledge about current my vaccine regulations. After showing I was fully vaccinated I met and had an official exemption from the myvaccine passport, I had a very arrogant and aggressive response from the door person who had a go at me for not having the myvaccine passport.

I showed three types of documentation as well as my temporary government exemption from the passport. And how I was tested tonight was disgusting and completely not on.

Over the last weeks I have checked in allover wellington with my documentation, full vaccination and my official NZ exemption.ALL of them were helpful and understanding and scanned me in no problem, AS PER NZ government rules.

How I was treated tonight was digesting, embarrassing and just not on. Dakota get your act together and please get off your high horse.

I showed the first bouncer my ID, and he sent me along to a second bouncer. The second bouncer (older white man) called me “my love” multiple times and was very inappropriate. I found his behaviour demeaning and very uncomfortable and I didn’t have a good experience because of it. It made me not want to come back because I don’t want to be treated as a “bouncer’s hoe” when I’m just trying to have a good time with my friends.
