One of the worst places in New Plymouth, this place has now been sold a few times through its existence.
Used to be "Cafe Turkish" then renamed "Devons Turkish" and then sold again but left under the same name. The original store "Burnt down" years ago and the smoke from the store smelt like insurance fraud.
Once the store was sold and put under the name "Devons Turkish" the man running the store was SUPER onto it and the food was mint with the fillings being worth your money. Now days the guy that brought the store still seems to know nothing about business and fills everything with tasteless cabbage and cheeps out on all the fillings.
The man and woman that are always in there because he is to cheep to hire any staff (And when they did they always looked sad and never stayed there long) They are extremely rude to people for no reason at all I have had the man yell and me and my mother and have heard them go off at delivery drivers and at people down the phone. What they say is disgusting and surprised people support this store and its owners
Overall this place is not worth your money and neither are the people, if you want to get beautifully made Turkish food please try Cafe Turquoise!
Edit: Just replying to the owner
I have been a customer many times over the years in this store and a couple more times recently.
As for you calling me a delivery driver is incorrect, I stated that I had heard the owner go off at a delivery driver and also people on the phone while waiting for my own food.
Also good job with the fake recent reviews to push mine down further...

Devon Turkish Restaurant is a hidden gem that offers a truly authentic and flavour-packed experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting atmosphere.
The food is absolutely amazing – fresh ingredients, generous portions, and beautifully presented dishes that bring out the rich flavors of traditional Turkish cuisine. The kebabs are juicy and perfectly spiced, the mixed grill is a must-try, and the hummus and fresh bread are some of the best we’ve had in New Zealand.
The staff are friendly, attentive, and always happy to recommend dishes if you’re unsure what to try. Whether you’re dining in or taking away, the service is consistently top-notch.
Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a delicious meal with a touch of Middle Eastern magic. We’ll...
Read moreVisited with family and were greeted very nicely! They were very patient as we navigated the menu and made lively conversation. The food tasted lovely, I got the Mixed kebab (size large) and it was very fufilling and satisfying! Got to chose from a selection of sauces, I chose the 'Hot Works' sauce! It was spicy but didnt burn my mouth off. Not to mention, the atmosphere of the restaurant is very endearing. Tidy, clean, and photos of Turkish landmarks pattern the walls — so you can eat and learn about the country all at once! I didn't feel rushed and enjoyed my time....
