This place is fantastic. The food is without question the best food I've ever had at a brewery. Top notch and super creative. The beer is great too. I love sour beer and they had the best I've ever tasted - feijoa. My husband likes hazy ipas and he enjoyed his beer too. They also make really delicious cocktails.Their staff are all super helpful, friendly and provide some of the best service I've had in New Zealand. I can't recommend this place enough and will definitely be back whenever we visit New Plymouth again. We stopped here for a couple of beers after a bike ride, and enjoyed it so much we brought our 16 person group back for dinner that evening. Everyone loved the food. My favorite was the flatbread with beef skewers, the oysters, and the carrots. My husband loved the lamb ribs and the ceviche. One of our friends got the hanger steak and said it was great and the burgers looked delicious too. Thanks to everyone at Shining Peak for making our dinner such a great experience. We really appreciate it and just want to say to everyone out there, don't miss this place when you're in...
Read moreThis place is the bee's knees, whether you're after a tasty pint or a gastro-pub meal that leans more to the fancy side of the dial without being pretentious. Speaking of fancy: the head brewer, a young Kevin Sigurdsson, is a top bloke and wears the hell out of a flat cap. The staff are absolute legends there. Also, this place's enclosed indoor-outdoor area is fantastic. It's the only pub in town that I can think of where my son has room to play with his toys on the floor, and I don't have to worry about him escaping into the street. Constantly worrying your child is about to leg it into the road and get squashed is a surefire way to make a relaxing beer a less enjoyable affair. Give your tonsils a float in a bit of their Octopus Clamp and...
Read moreFantastic place with top notch food and brilliant beer to top it off. Even the kids meals were incredible (bar the chicken being perhaps a little spicy for kids, ours coped though), this is a sign of a great place as most kids menu food is bland and never well thought out. They were easily able to cater for our dairy free toddler by doing a batter free piece of fish for her. We shared 6 small plates between four adults and this was a reasonable amount for all us to feel satisfied. Stars were the lamb ribs and ceviche, but everything else was equally good. Service was excellent, timely and attentive. Only one small minor was the roof was dripping (slowly) on me, but I was able to shift over a little...
