I love going to this place. It's open vibrant and friendly.

As a man it's wonderful to be called sir and treated with respect in an establishment. Well done.

I also enjoy the fact that the staff do not come over and immediately take your plate or cups away after completion. They seem to have a good feel of when it is a good time to do so. It is always done unobtrusively.

I enjoy the large windows and floating wooden counters to enjoying my coffee on. The large Windows provide plenty of light and a view of watching the world go by on the corner of Liardet and Devon Streets.

I have never had a bad experience there and I have been there a lot more than 40 times.

I would like to see some gluten free options and perhaps softer seated stools to sit on at the window. However, I don't think the hard seating would affect anyone else who isn't sitting there for 3 hours at a time.

Small things for me to complain about.

Congratulations to Matt and Zoe and the team at the front of house Martin and Alisha.

I think one of the most important things for going back regularly- is the food.

When you go make sure you order coffee because the coffee is very nice. The macarons are addictive so make sure you grab some!

My suggestion try salted caramel, Snickers, chocolate and dark chocolate, any of the ones with nuts are delicious as well. But, I can assure you they are all made impeccably well.

It is clear to me that Matt and Zoe the owners know exactly what they are aiming for. They have a small niche that they are catering towards. I think because they know exactly what that niche is they do it incredibly well.

Thanks...

Emma Lou's was one of the highlights of a recent trip to New Plymouth—definitely worth multiple visits!

We ordered the poke bowl ($24) with fried chicken, brown rice, kimchi, slaw, edamame, kewpie, Korean hot sauce, and house pickles, as well as the eggs and bacon ($24), which came with a potato & kumara hash, poached eggs, hollandaise, and bacon. Both dishes were beautifully presented and tasted just as amazing as they looked.

To top it off, we grabbed a macaron to go—they have such an incredible range of flavors! My favorite was the pistachio, which had a lovely nuttiness flavour without being overly sweet.

The service was great too. When we arrived, it was quite busy, but the staff were quick to clear tables and make space for us as soon as one became available.

Overall, Emma Lou’s is a must-visit for delicious food, great service, and a...

Come here for the Macarons, stay here for the excellent food and awesome coffee. This place is the definition of 'Tiny but Mighty' shop. An unassuming entrance gives way to a barrage of delectable food that you feel compelled to stay and try some with expert barista coffee. The staff are wonderful too with much passion for their food, it can make anyone feel like a foodie. By all means try the macarons as they are made to perfection. Plenty of flavours to choose from, or like me have an assortment made for you. The other food on offer is certainly delectable, especially their bagels. This place is reason enough to go back to...

Emmalou Macaron & Coffee House never disappoints. Fresh and in-season produce are beautifully prepared in both the innovative menu or in their daily cabinet options. Gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan options are all catered for, with so many choices to choose from! The salads are vibrant, healthy and make a perfect lunch on the go! I personally love their banana loaf (DF, GF) and their vegan crumpets! If you are looking for your local coffee shop, then this is the place to come... the coffee is always spot on! Thank you Matt and Zoe... your team work tirelessly to create an amazing vibe, and your regulars love you!

Best cafe in New Plymouth! We came here twice during our trip and both times were fantastic. First day, I had the lamb which was perfectly cooked and it was served with delicious hummus, tzatziki and flatbread. Second time, I had the rhubarb oats with the sourdough toasts which were great as well. Coffee was good too. We also try one of the macarons and my French partner loved it. The staff were very welcoming and friendly as well!
