We thought Millennium was a newly refurbished hotel bought by a Singaporean group. So our expectation was on the high side from reading the 4 & 5 stars review here and having had stayed at W Sentosa Cove and Westin Marina View. Booked in the family suite and literally wanting to check out in the middle of the night because of the noises from outside, being the air con system cooling “Salt” and the drunken couple taken away by the police around 2-3am.
The manager on duty the next day kindly gave us complimentary breakfast which was nice, however, the tacky plastic chair and display of outdated jewelleries when the very slow elevator opened on level 1, didn’t help elevate the experience. The room itself was vast, irregular shape and in desperate need of updating to the current decade as shown by the pictures.
We didn’t bother to try figuring out the air con system because it was placed directly above the bed and so with the room facing west, we just had to grin and bear the heat through our entire stay rather than risk catching a cold while we sleep.
The bathroom was so outdated, the very low placed sink made us wonder what is going on? We all need to give in to the littlest member of the family I suppose. The toilet paper was paper thin, I’m impressed it would disintegrate when I touch it with my damp hands. The yellowing plastic stuff on the bath tub screamed go away to us, I didn’t even bother trying to work it just in case something breaks.
I’m sorry, normally I try to think of something nice to write, but I think there’s an urgent need to voice some honesty here.
Overall, it made us very happy to come back to our own bed, as ours didn’t have an annoying hard middle separation line or a trough that made it impossible to have a good...
Read moreWe had an absolutely wonderful family staycation at the Millennium New Plymouth Waterfront during the Winter Festival of Lights. From the moment we arrived, the service was top-notch — the front desk team greeted us with warm towels and welcome drinks, which was such a thoughtful touch, especially on a chilly evening!||Check-in was quick and seamless, and we felt warmly welcomed right away. Our room was cosy, clean and perfect for our little family of three, with a comfortable double bed and a single bed that suited our setup perfectly. ||The location is unbeatable — right on the waterfront and close to all the festival action. It made our winter getaway even more magical.||Highly recommend this hotel for families visiting New Plymouth. Read moreThis hotel is situated just off the coastal path; very convenient to everything, walking or driving. Most rooms have an indirect view of the ocean. On the plus side, it’s a beautiful outlook, but on the downside the road in front of the hotel is very busy, as it’s a main thoroughfare. Parking was included and really appreciated. Our room was a pretty standard hotel room, with a Juliet balcony, but a good bar fridge, and a comfortable bed and excellent water pressure. You could hear doors closing in the hall, pretty common, but we never heard guests in adjacent rooms or above/below. It would have been nice to have an in-room coffee option other than instant. Housekeeping was generally very prompt. It seems like a minor thing, but not having a safe in the room was a big negative; nowhere to safely put the iPad and laptop during days...
