Kai Tahi is an absolute treasure in Porirua, a place that truly lives up to its name, bringing people together over incredible food and warm hospitality. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a smile that makes you feel like family, not just a customer.
The food options available are a perfect balance of flavour, creativity, and comfort. Every dish feels like it’s been made with care and respect, fresh ingredients, beautifully presented, and bursting with taste. The flavours are so well thought out that you can tell there’s passion behind every plate.
What I love most is the atmosphere, relaxed, welcoming, and full of heart. It’s the kind of place you can enjoy with friends, celebrate with whānau, or even come alone and still feel at home. You can taste the pride and love in the food, and you can feel it in the service too.
Kai Tahi is more than just a venue, restaurant it’s a place where connection is celebrated, where stories are shared, and where every bite reminds you how good life can be when it’s shared with others. If you’re in Porirua and haven’t been yet, you’re truly missing out on...
Read moreThis morning as I finished my 5:30am REVOL class, my Ti-Time and meditation, I finally listened to that inner voice calling me into this particular space. I actually always do but my motive is usually for the other person. This morning my motive was to pay respect to a space that expressed such beautiful, symbolic, meaning oozing with creative and imaginative intentionality. The concept was simply. Kai (to eat) Tahi (as...
Read moreKiwi from Sydney view: I wondered when Porirua would get some decent Asian food. Is always been served ok with the basics. But this place has Indonesian, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese. It also has alcohol, burgers, and other food stuff.
When I’ve been it’s always been quiet. Like almost dead. Though that has been outside lunch or dinner hours on work days.
Back to the food - beef rendang was tender and flavoured well. The rare beef Pho was noodle full and tasty as well with good extra chilli. So this is why I’m saying that good Asian food has finally come to Porirua. There I said it. Try it for yourself.
Look this is not Sydney so you can’t expect the variety and authenticity. But it’s great food.
Get a chocolate milkshake from the bar as well for the kids. Yummy.
FINAL POINT: Great clean...
