Little Guy Bagel And Coffee House — Restaurant in North Island

We had what could have been a negative experience turned into a 10 star visit.

Came in (2 adults 2 toddlers) to order 3 coffees and 3 bagels. The coffees came out promptly and were awesome. We sat in a gorgeous garden hideaway out the back (which is the best kept secret I’ve seen from an eatery).

We then sat for a while longer, a little too much longer. We were wondering where the food was, whether to go and enquire…eventually the kids were getting restless and we were wandering around the garden and happened upon a staff member. We asked about the progress of the bagels. It became known (not unbelievably to us) that the food had been forgotten about.

It was now just after closing time so things were being packed away and it was no longer really possible to prepare the bagels we had ordered.

However, it was then that we were graced with some of the most amazing customer service either of us have seen. We were not only refunded (for the coffees as well as the bagels), we were given a voucher and some undressed bagels to take with us. The staff were incredibly sincere with their regret and apology.

I cannot imagine a world in which this response would cause me to not return to this wonderful establishment. Can’t wait to see how good the bagels are with the vibrant ingredients on offer.

We are beyond impressed, grateful and eager to return! Thanks for the spectacular customer service experience team. Seriously demonstrating how it’s done right. See you soon!

Really disappointed with our first visit to your cafe. Found it confusing when we arrived especially with the unfriendly woman at the counter who didn't acknowledge us in any way or point out the menus ,we eventually found them in front of her. She took our orders & the only words she uttered was "You can't stand there you have to wait outside ". We went around the back of the cafe to the garden which you advertise on your website to it find it closed. Our order was delivered by two friendly guys who were certainly different to the lady we first encountered. Unfortunately my latte was really weak & my b,n,e was not nice. The bagel itself was great but the toppings / sauces killed any other flavours, you could not taste the bacon or egg. My daughter enjoyed her bagel & coffee so did her friend. My husband wasn't keen on his bagel but said the coffee was ok.

Nice bagels and a sweet outdoor area. But this establishment is not participating in the COVID traffic light scheme. That likely means their workers are not vaccinated, and it will become a magnet for unvaccinated people in general. So unless you want to increase your risk of catching COVID by 20x (see the University of Melbourne study) I would give this place a very wide berth.

I’m not here to massage your ego. I have noticed from your replies to other reviews you have a problem handling criticism. I’ve always considered owners who lash out in those circumstances are not suitable to be the public face of their business. You’re probably best to relegate yourself to a back room role and let somebody more level headed and customer focused respond on...
