I have been here several times over the many years I have lived in NP, for shows etc. Always enjoyable, with comfy seating, generally well cared for & clean restrooms. Recently however, I was invited to a wedding reception here; something I was unaware as even being available in this lovely old, yet refurbished, building in central NP. Upon arrival, guests were directed to the general area, where there was a bar & plenty of space to mingle, along with an outdoor balcony with seating & a great view along main street. The dining area was well laid out, although a bit of a squeeze between tables when everyone was seated - nothing uncommon in my experience. The space itself looked gorgeous with the beautiful chandeliers reflecting on the sparkling cutlery, in turn laid out on pristine white tablecloths. The meal was catered by in-house caterers and was quite delicious, with everyone I saw clearing their plates. Staff were friendly & professional, with dishes etc. being cleared away promptly. As a venue of this nature, the only thing I feel obliged to point out is the lack of non-metered parking close by - it being in a main shopping area. All in all, this was a v enjoyable experience in a lovely relaxing environment; one which I recommend without hesitation. It's quite amazing how long one can live in the same small city without knowing these things. Thank you to the Bride & Groom for...
Read moreI love/like some of the acts I've seen here! Had great memories at TSB Showplace.!
Seen a MJ concert! MJ One! Michael Jackson impersonator! Dantino from Durban/Kimberly South Africa.! More recently Queen concert! It's A Kind of Magic!. Lastly Cats production from Andrew Lloyd Webber.! An adaptation featuring New Plymouth stage talent performers.! 4/5 stars.!
Staff seem friendly to customers.! From my personal experiences here. Coming to shows I've been to.! In my lifetime.! 4/5 stars
However I find for the seating/with the seating styles/types. The gallery up top, it's too cramped how close together the chairs are.! Especially when your dealing with personal health injuries.! Bad experience for me here. A let down. I'm sorry to disappoint. It's just how I feel in/with this situation.
Also lastly. I only wish there was the opportunity for a meet and greet backstage/in foyer at end of show.! A chance in a lifetime (photo op) photo opportunity with the band/lead act actor stage performer!
This would mean a lot to me and I'm sure it would the same for others who feel the same way/similar. I'm sorry to disappoint yet again. This can be a let down. It was recently. From my personal...
Read moreThe theatre is TINY, in the sense that the seats are barely large enough to fit the average person. The decor is gorgeous however, and once the show starts you forget the inadequate seating. There are plenty of seats, but be sure to check the map online to make sure you get a good location. The lower level ones are cheap and great.
I saw Jimmy Carr here and it was great, with the notes exception of seating. Staff were very good at...
