The worst shao mai ever! We ordered one serving, as we were dubious from looking at the dumplings on the table next to us. We had come in for dumplings and instead switched to shao mai and two other dishes. My children (who were very hungry, and it was late) ate 2 thirds of these awful dumplings. They said they tasted like a yucky sausage roll - and they eat regularly at Yum Cha - so they know what shao mai should taste like. These looked nothing like they should, were frozen, out of a packet and heated up - just awful. As the kids ate 4 of the dumplings - the other two were bitten and spat out on the plate - the staff did not care and seemed to think that because they had served these awful dumplings for a year that that made it ok. Not ok. If you know the food you are serving is rubbish, don't serve it. There was a picture of actual shao mai above the counter ( which looked like shao mai we are use to eating) that looked nothing like what came out on the plate. Thankfully the other two dishes were ok, not great, just ok. I would not eat here again.
It is not disgusting to expect to be refunded for such disgusting food. What is truly disgusting, is to serve people such disgusting food and not care. Have some standards. I notice reading through all of your reviews how awful you can be when someone very clearly tells you what is not correct in your restaurant. Particularly the racial complaints which you then completely deny. I am not at all surprised with your response to the bad review you so deservedly received. I only wish that I had taken a photo of the dish you served, it would have spoken volumes. I note that you do not wish to discuss the quality of the food mentioned in this review. I think what is disgusting is what happens in...
Read moreI’m writing a review from a few weeks back. Me and my older sister One night decided we wanted to dumplings for dinner so we looked up on google round Rotorua and found this place. I’m going to be judging on two things customer service , Food prep.
Customer service was all though delayed the person who was serving us at the time knew we were standing there waiting for him to take our order ( felt totally rude ) we stood there for about five mins before him even serving us , there also was a lot of helping hands around all though they looked lost? We ended up ordering the pork and chives dumpling and I totally forgot about the other one we ordered.
Food prepping : we asked him how long our meal would take 15-20 mins he answered , which turned into an hr wait my fried rice from around the corner cooked faster then that.
At the end of the night all though we waited so patiently for our food it still came to us nice and hot cooked to perfection flavours are delicious I still rate this place 5stars for a first time customer your dumplings...
Read moreWe arrived in Rotorua quite late at 9pm. Did a quick search and found this Chinese restaurant stay open until 10pm. We quickly go there to pack some dishes for supper.
We ordered 4 dishes (pork dumpling, stir fried cabbage, special fried noddle, and spicy mix beef tripe and stomach).
All were nicely cooked, except the Fried noddle which is too oily and lack of the heat from the wok. Probably can use higher heat and stir fried the noddle faster to have the char smells (fragrances) and use lesser oil.
Counter staff is friendly and accommodating to special request as we need to separate the spicy oil for the mix beef tripe and stomach, so that our kiddo can have it. The portion is large enough for 3-4 pax for the food we ordered.
Overall, price is okay ($60 bucks for 4 dishes and good portion), taste is good, and service is good. Will definitely be back again when the craving for Chinese...
