We had a delightful experience. Nestled at 101 Te Heuheu Street, this café exudes a cozy, welcoming vibe with its lush garden surroundings and charming house setting. We ordered the Mediterranean bowl, Eggs Benedict, and a toasted bread with cheese. The Mediterranean bowl was a vibrant mix of fresh, local ingredients baby spinach, beet hummus, and quinoa bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The falafels in the bowl were exceptional, perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside, with a delightful blend of herbs and spices that elevated every bite. They were hands-down the best falafels I have tasted in a while, stealing the show with their texture and taste.
The Eggs Benedict was a standout, with perfectly poached eggs, creamy, and a well-balanced portion for the price. The toasted bread with cheese was simple, we ordered it for kids. The kids’ play area was a highlight, keeping our little ones entertained with its safe, outdoor setup, making it a great spot for families. The staff were friendly, and the service was prompt.

Read moreIf you’re in Taupo and craving a cozy spot with delicious, plant-based options, The Garden Cafe is a must-visit! I had their vegan scrambled eggs on ciabatta toast, and it was absolutely delicious. The eggs made from tofu
were perfectly seasoned and fluffy, with a nice balance of flavors. The ciabatta toast was warm and crispy, providing a great base for the dish.
To complement the meal, I tried their berry smoothie, and it was refreshing with just the right amount of sweetness. It felt like the perfect pick-me-up after a morning stroll around the lake.
The vibe at The Garden Cafe is so relaxed and welcoming—perfect for enjoying a casual breakfast or lunch. Whether you’re vegan or not, this place definitely delivers in both taste and atmosphere....
Read moreMy sisters and I had a nice breakfast here on our road trip. The cafe itself is really spacious and peaceful. We had a whole room to ourself. Really loved the kumara eggs benedict. The eggs on all the meals were cooked very well and we liked the green smoothie. There were a couple of mix ups with some drinks and one meal. However, the lead servers easily re-did the bill to reflect this and apologised very professionally. Mistakes sometimes happen but we appreciated the way it was fixed. And they even filled our thermos with hot water so we could make tea on the road and we had a nice chat with a friendly waitress who recommended an Argentinian tea we are going to try. This was my second time coming here and it’s my favourite brunch...
