Loved this new addition to Dunedin eateries. Authentic South Indian cuisine. Loved our host from Bengaluru and Mysore. Loved the dosa, it's spicy filling and the accompanying chutneys and lentil stew; sambar. The crispy vada was delicious and so was the soft fermented idli. Enjoyed the filter coffee to wash down the spicy potato bonda If you like Indian food but getting over the heavy north Indian affair of cream ladden, orange colored curries then this is a must try joint. We had to try them again and did they make it awesome again or what! Yummmmmmmmm. Mysore masala dosa, sambar coconut chutneys, vacation and idli Everything hit the sweet spot. Thanks team for the real authentic dosa. We are addicted to this place. Have had a few takeout now. Everything bursting with fresh authentic flavors. Great work team. Dosa guys you are awesome. Loving your offerings and consistency with flavorsome food you make. Loved the dosas idlis, vadas, sambar and coconut chutneys. Can't wait to try more things should you choose to add.more to your menu. Awesome food. We keep loving their limited yet flavourful offerings. Had a Mysore dosa with coconut chutneys and sambar. Vada and idli for Chilli garlic chutneys and some coffee. Everything was spot on and the crispy dosa was absolutely stunning. Idli tastes fermented and freshly made. Great work guys. Wish coffee and tea was served in.glassware and not steel cups as it was pretty hard to sip out...
Read moreWho knew dosas were actually Indonesian? And chicken 65 was invented in, well, 65? Thanks to my trusty bestie Nithin, I've got a whole new appreciation for culinary history. But let's talk about Dosa Etc.
The place has a warm vibe, like a hug from a friendly neighbour. The staff? Absolute gems. They're so nice, you'd think they were relatives. So, top marks for hospitality.
Now, the food... Ah, the food. It's Dunedin, after all. Let’s just say it’s a work in progress. The dosa was crispy, sure, but flavor-wise, it was okay-ish – nice, but not exactly exhilarating. They tried to spice things up with the green chillies, but it was more bitter than fiery. The cheese dosa was the MVP of the meal. masala dosa was like a comforting hug in edible form.
One major plot twist: no salt on the table. I mean, c'mon! It's like giving monkey me an inverted bike. But the coffee? Oh, that was a revelation. It was like liquid sunshine, warming my soul and awakening my taste buds.
So, would I go back? For the coffee, absolutely. For the food? Maybe. After all, hospitality trumps flavor sometimes.

Read moreBy far the best South Indian food we enjoyed on our travel across North and South islands. As close as it can get to being home cooked food. The dosas were light crisp and fresh and didn't seem to have any additives. The vada was freshly fried and crisp. Similarly the idlies were super soft. The accompanying chutney was incredibly delicious. Kids enjoyed their mini dosas and emptied their plates for the first time ever in a restaurant . We also tried the onion uthappam and they offered to add chilies. It was the best i have had going back years. Fresh and with right spice kick. Transported me back to my childhood in Bangalore. Every item we tried was a resounding hit. Even the coffee and tea were refreshing and home like. Also had a chance to talk to the owner and the staff and they were all very friendly forthcoming and professional, even offering tips about new Zealand in general. I really wish this establishment keeps growing and remains as true to it's roots as they are now. If you want South Indian food ( dosas, idlies vadas etc), visit Dosa etc. I will certainly pencil Dunedin into my future itineraries just for...
