Visiting from the United States, land of service and fake hospitalityšŸ˜, my wife and I ordered a big breakfast and an omelette thinking(Intuition)it’s going to be the best breakfast in the C.B.D cause it took more than 30 mins for us to figure out no food was actually coming our way(Clearly stellar IntuitionšŸ™„) also being a Monday so we thought they were busy(Being Thoughtful), only to realise the server that took our order hadn’t put the docket through the system(Strange cause received my coffee and we’re charged for the food AND were given a serving number by him AND…..)anyways no order was placed in the first place. They gave us a refund with minimal apology(definitely bothered us) Wish we could speak to the food here but we never saw it. Disappointing. Classic case of Monday blues from the staff member hope he wins the battle he was fighting on this...

The service is bad enough to prompt me to review the Good Oil. I have been coming in regularly but think I will probably stop. The cinnamon scrolls are nice but inconsistent. Other things from the cabinet are also nice but there will be some small thing wrong. The coffee is usually burnt and over espressed. Tea is good but drinks always come much, much later than the food. The ambience is cosy but this can be a negative when it is full and everyone is shouting over the top of everyone. Staff ignore you. It's a shame since other parts can be nice.

EDIT: My friends and I gave The Good Oil a second chance, lured in by the cinnamon scrolls. They cornered my friends in the kitchen and then growled at them for leaving a less than stellar reviews about them. Terrible, bullying behaviour over an average...

Visiting from Auckland and as someone who is extremely picky about how I have my coffee, I researched local coffee shops before visiting, The Good Oil had great reviews and so I decided to visit.

I had said that I was fussy about my coffee and so the barista asked exactly how I liked it and offered me two different cup sizes. My coffee was made exactly as I liked it. It was for takeaway and I asked if I could have a 2nd cup, as it was quite hot. He willingly obliged.

I visited again the next day and not only did the barista greet me by my name, he also knew exactly what coffee I wanted and prepared it for me and it was even in the 2 cups ready for me to take away.

Amazing customer service, great coffee, very reasonably priced and...

Yes, they serve delicious coffee; and the pastries are heavenly. (I kept staring at the strawberry and white chocolate muffin I was eating to make sure it was real.) But go for the breakfast! The inadequately named Roast (portobello) Mushrooms are a symphony that includes spinach and a perfectly poached egg on toasted ciabatta bread. (I also ordered the bacon but it was large and tasty enough on its own.) Add to all this friendly service and you have no excuse not to try this wonderful restaurant.

Great little cafe with a good vibe. Great food and service and amazing coffee! The blend was quite strong though, so if you are sensitive to this, maybe ask for a weak coffee. I had a delicious granola dish with a berry compote - and while this is a quite standard cafe menu item, this one was better than most. The cafe is split into two storefronts. One has the counter and is a bit noisier, but the second is cozy and quiet. Great for quick stops, or brunch dates and laptops.

Nice coffee. Food was a bit slow coming.Nice though. Good location and pleasant atmosphere with good music. A few smiles from some of the staff would make a big difference. It felt like being a customer was an inconvenience.
