Indian Spice Dunedin South — Restaurant in Otago

Really can't understand how anyone would gives 5 stars to this restaurant. We would never get back there. Let's start with mannerless behaviour of the lady on the counter. I smiled at her and what I received was only a grim and through out our time there this was the only behaviour we observed. It was like she couldn't care less about their customers and how unwelcoming she is behaving.

Anyway we ignored and ordered. I gave one star only for the garlic cheese bread and chicken tikka. The rest of food was absolutely disaster. The curry wasn't really a curry. It was some sort of very thin gravey with smallest pieces of meats in it. The size of rice was very very small too and even we are not big rice eater, we had to ask for extra and pay separately for it. The food wasn't authentic Indian at all. Butter chicken had a super sugary sweet flavour and not very pleasant. We got another supposedly coconut curry that only had a mild milky flavour without much of any taste.

Firstly, i went to the place after reading so many mixed reviews but unfortunately the food was average for the money. The malabari fish tasted like a fish in Sambhar. The staff was rude to my friend. She politely asked a lady staff attending us for a piece of lime, but she rudely said no in front of everyone. That kind of behaviour is not acceptable anywhere. Customer interaction is the first thing for any diner's experience. I would never like to go back here or recommend any of my Indian friends in Dunedin. They really need to work on some basic ethics and how to...

Very pathetic service, especially giving this review for the lady who was working on Sunday 13/03/2022 around 8.30 pm, she was really really rude I don’t know who gave her the job of customer service.. no sense at all … don’t know how to speak English as well… I just called regarding a concern and I got a reply in a way that I owe her something… I never had such a bad service in my life… I don’t know her name otherwise will mention that as well… if your customer giving bad reviews I think only because of her… pathetic pathetic...
