Black Pearl Cafe — Restaurant in Palmerston North

My wife & I work in excess of 100 hours a week, & we thought that we'd treat ourselves to a takeaway meal from this business. "Big Mistake" When I got home the tray was half full of what resembled the contents from a pig bucket. Paltry serving of vegetables, 5 prawns, & not enough rice for one person. For what they charged, you certainly don't get value for money! Took the "Train Wreck" of a meal back, & demanded a refund. After some deliberation with the owner over the phone, I was given a full refund. Went across the road & bought 2 roast meals for the same price, which were incredible in comparison to this establishment. We'll never refer our guests to this business if they ever ask for food recommendations in Palmerston North. Furthermore to my review in response to the owner, it's a pity when businesses & staff "Gaslight" the situation. I refute all allegations of behaving in the manner which has been fed to you by your staff member. Additionally, the other customers in the store at the time praised me for taking a stand for what was an absolute farce in regards to the dish we ordered & paid for! Your reply reflects what your meal consisted of, bitterness, no substance, over inflated self assurance, & most of all deception. You have 100 percent reaffirmed our stance on considering your business as nothing more than just a footnote on the listings of all eateries available in Te Ppaioea...

We were late having lunch ans stumbled upon Black Pearl. There were plenty of people when we had passed it earlier so figured it must be good, with a good turn over of food. We stood at the counter waiting to be seated before having to excuse ourselves to the four staff standing talking. We were taken to a table and given absolutely filthy menus. Oil and food all over (I have pics). I ordered a Coke No Sugar while we looked at the menus. We waited 15 minutes then I asked someone if we could order and where my drink was. My drink turned up, just a cold, sealed bottle. No glass or straw, so not sure why it took so long. We ordered our food. The chips came out about 15 mins later. Some were hot, the rest were cold. We were still waiting at the one hour mark for our main. When it came, the chicken was delicious. The vegetables were undercooked onion, 3 tiny pieces of carrot a tiny piece of broccoli. We weren’t given anything to eat it with and had to go to the counter and ask for cutlery for our table and the table next to ours. We showed the waitress the filthy menu and she smiled and said it had been busy in the morning. So much potential but was just wrong in too...

Very dissapointed with the unprofessional manager cheyenne who took it upon herself to argue with me about the bubble tea i ordered.. I explained that the drink that she made wasnt what i had ordered with the lady on the till. She rudely said to me that i should have checked my order on the ipad they had sitting on the counter..i explained i wasnt to know i had to check it & i was only concerned that the change the lady was giving me was correct. Rather than stand there and argue with me it would have been more appropriate to to correct the mistake that had happened. I had asked for a peach tea no bubbles & green apple popping balls.What i was given was peach & apple tea with black pearls. I asked cheyenne for my money back as i found it disgustimg the way she was treating me..cheyennes reply was can you wait 5 mins to which i said no i had already been waiting 20 mins for my drink.. This could have had a happy ending if she had not been so rude..i got my money back in the end & left.
