Chada Thai — Restaurant in Palmerston North

We were in town for an event and thought we would have Thai for dinner. There were a few options, but decided on Chada, mostly due to their Google rating. How disappointed we were. Everything was very bland and in spite of the place just opening for the evening, all of the ingredients looked and tasted like they were prepared days earlier. The WonTon soup was tasteless, the wontons were dried up like they had been sitting in a cooler for a few days. The Pad Thai had no taste either, no depth of flavour almost like someone had just squirted a bottle of Pad Thai sauce from the local Asian supermarket over a plate of noodles and chicken and churned it out to us. As have been a regular customer of Aroy for many years, I was looking forward to a bowl of wonton soup with BBQ pork and prawn spring rolls. The spring rolls were actually frozen prawn horns from Gilmours or the supermarket. The BBQ pork in the soup was not BBQ pork, but chopped up bits of a pork roast. To top it all off, we ordered our takeaway about 30 mins after they opened the doors, whilst sitting in the mostly empty dining area awaiting our food, some really unprofessional looking chap made us move from where we were sitting as he said that our table has been reserved. There was literally one other couple sitting in the ample dining area. WTH?!?! Don't waste your time, they seem to have a lot more problems than you should have to worry about when choosing a...

Poor service. Having waited over half hour for my meal, and watching people whom arrived well after me receive their hot fresh meals, I had to go hungry. The staff had forgotten about me, and not even checked on me at my table to notice that I was not yet eating.

I asked how long my meal would be, and then the staff said it was takeaway order, which was sitting on the counter getting cold and stodgy in the paper bag. I said I needed to go, I need refund. They said have a seat they will bring the food. They took the bag back to the kitchen, but I no longer had time to wait and dine due to my class starting.

There is no way I was going to eat reheated food that had already sat getting stodgy, and rightly so when this was a $53 meal. So I left hungry and not willing to return to Chads Thai again.

Please work on your customer service and processes to ensure you do not let customers down. And please arrange my refund for the food and service you were not able...

A casual tasty dining experience that will please even the fussiest of friends. We arrived and seated ourselves and started pouring over the particularly large menu. With so many delicious options on offer (and many vegan and vege and gluten free meals) it was definitely a hard decision. We wandered up to order our food and get drinks from the fridge. Though they did nearly get us ordering bubble tea or one of the myriad of options for drinks they had. The peach soda was tried by the table and unanimously voted delicious. I decided on the Chicken Green Curry and I don't regret that. It turned up in a good time considering the place was humming with people. Surprising as we were there on a Tuesday night. It came with rice on the side, was super tasty and was a great portion size. I was full at the end of the bowl with only a bit of sauce left (I love to pour it all over my rice and get it soggy). We all left happy and full. Absolutely would eat there again....
