Unfortunately, in the three years I’ve been to eat at Brew Union I have never had such a distasteful experience. The rosebud we had was far too sour my partner felt his mouth was ulcerated from drinking it. For a $40 dish the chicken was overcooked and dry which is completely unbelievable. The margarita pizza had no flavour at all, I couldn’t believe a simple pizza such as it could be so boring. The ribs we ordered shouldn’t even be called ribs. They seemed to have been steamed in the microwave, no sear or charcoal edges? the flavour didn’t make up for this because they lacked in both flavour and seasoning. I wanted to take my partner out for the first time in Palmerston North for a nice dinner and raved on about going to Brew Union. I can’t believe I paid over $100 for an overcooked, under seasoned and underwhelming meal. To top it off the table we were seated at was right next to the door to the outside which opened every 10 seconds so for winter time it was really cold to be sitting there. We were very honest with the waiter who could only offer an apology. We didn’t finish our meals and had to remedy our disappointment of such an expensive meal with a MCFlurry from McDonalds. No unfortunately I won’t be coming back here or recommending it if this is the service and...
Read moreI was really disappointed with Brew Union despite previously having good experiences. I had booked for a group of 18 people for a work lunch (5 days in advance) and it was not mentioned once that anyone looking under 25 would need an ID to even be allowed to have a meal at Brew Union. One person was requested ID even though she wasn't ordering alcohol. This same person was at Brew Union the week before with myself and was not asked for ID during our dinner or when she ordered an alcoholic drink. We placed our food order and waited over an hour to receive our food. Other smaller groups of people that had come in after us were receiving their food before us. When I went to inquire about the wait, I received no feedback from the waitress to let me know what the hold up was - essentially we felt ignored. When the food came out, one person was missed out and had to wait another 20 mins for food to come. Not once was there simply an apology for the delay in food and the missed drink order that I also had to follow up on. Really poor customer service today...it seemed pointless to even comment to the staff that we felt let down today. This was supposed to be work celebration and it's unlikely I would ever book a work...
Read moreReturn visit, not for the acoustics but the service, company and food. Was turn between the Nashville chicken and the waffles. Waffles won and a succulent morsel it is. You will need a side order of salad with this very brown meal. The waffle is bathing in a sea of maple syrup, with crispy chicken reclining on a bed of bacon with honey butter. Would pay to walk a block or two to and from the Brew Union as this delicious meal is quite filling. Our little group thoroughly enjoyed our evening out. The service was exemplary and charming. Money well spent. Thanks Brew crew. Update. We stopped in for Sunday lunch, it was the quietest we'd ever encountered. Service was fantastic as usual and without the crowds the acoustics were bearable. Three of us had the chicken burger with added bacon and the last member of our party had the ribs. Absolutely beautiful burgers with candied jalapeño. Delicious. The ribs too were fantastic. Good food great service and beaut beer. What more...
