I very rarely leave bad reviews, and I’ve written a good deal as you can see from my prior ones. So take that for what it’s worth.
This was particularly in regards to the drive through experience, I don’t speak for dining in or taking away via inside the restaurant.
Let me start by saying this is the most strangest, messed up McDonalds I have ever been to in the world. And I’ve attended McDs internationally as well as over NZ. Maybe it was just bad luck, or maybe I caught the staff on a bad night. But this is my first and ONLY time I will be coming here. If you want to try your luck, good luck to you!
My justification for my rating:
We get to the intercom and are greeted by what we thought was an AI voice. I say that because when I went to talk to them they didn’t respond. They said “Will you be ordering with the app today?” And my wife and I said “No, we are ready to place our order. silence 1 minute passes and I’m thinking ok all-good something urgent must have come up or they’re still taking the order from the other lane, no biggie. Weird first interaction, but no biggie. Then we get someone that says “hello place your order when ready”. We place the order. They ask: “Is there anything else?” We try to give something else in the order, x2 flakes in our mcdips. silence… we ask “hello are you there?” then the same person says “Hello are you ready to place your order?” (Wtf)… So we repeat our entire order again. Allgood. Maybe a new worked tagged in or something. Still weird asf.
Then we get to the pay window and it says 2 chocolate mcdips, with extra that we’ve paid for flakes in them. No comms about whether it’s possible to do or not. Nothing mentioned about any issues with the order. The woman serving us even says: “hey can you check the screen to make sure the order is right?” Sweet, all is well. No issues on that part
This is where things go from weird to bad + WEIRDER.
It takes 5 MINS for TWO ICE CREAMS to come. When they arrive, the guy hands us a SINGLE chocolate mcdip and says “sorry we don’t do flake micdips”. And repeats this 3 times to us.
Firstly, yes you do, because we’ve had them before, so if you don’t know just say you don’t know hahaha. Secondly we got charged for the flakes, and bro just expected us to absorb the cost. Wtf lol. So we tell him this. Twice. “And he’s looking around to someone else for help. And im like “sorry but we paid for it so we need a refund or you need to give us the order please.” Politely of course, I’ve worked hospo and retail so fully get how high pressure and hard the role can be.
Then he goes back and talks to someone, then they hand him x1 of what we ask for. He then also tries to give us the flakeless icecream he originally offered and says ”is it ok if we just give you the flake outside of it, we can’t put it in a dry one.” And I’m like “haha sorry mate that’s not what we ordered.” Now he’s staring at us, like he doesn’t know what to do, no sorry from him or a “no worries I’ll grab one”, just staring at us blankly hahaha. The competent worker looks at him then us and goes away, retrieved what we ordered then gives it to him to hand to us. Bro is still staring at us rudely (bearing in mind we’ve been real polite this whole time). We say thank you as he hands it to us and he’s still just staring. Maybe he was high?? Idk it was really weird hahaha!
My icecream basically melted after the fiasco. Worst experience I’ve ever had. I’d be furious if I wasn’t laughing at how absolutely screwed up the experience was from start to finish. The only good experience was the woman who took our payment and the guy who fixed the issue of the numbskull who didn’t understand what to do. If he’s new, I apologise and hope he improves. Read moreBetween 5-6pm my 8yr old and i decided to have a quick bite to eat at this establishment. Upon entering the store we choose to order via self service and opted in for table service. We paid and took our n# 36. As we sat down i rembered I'd forgotten to purchase 2× mayo packs. I proceeded to the counter where the assistant with the earing in her cheek was clearly pre-occupied behind the counter below the till..... i waited & waited. She then looked up and just stared at me like i had interupted her from whatever she was doing.....no apology for making me wait. I then sat down and yet again waited for my order which i remind you again i opted in for table service. Our meal was finally delivered by the assistant who did apologise as he didn't realise it was indeed TABLE SERVICE????Upon opening our burgers Mr 8 had already started eating his burger i then realised we had not been given our drink i then got up and AGAIN another wait to request our Large L&P. To which there was no apology made when given to me. I then returned to our table opened my burger and it was stone cold. I AGAIN returned to the counter and AGAIN another waiting game before an assistant approached me to exchange the burger for a hot one. AGAIN no apology was given. Meanwhile my son had already eaten and did not enjoy his cold burger. Hugely disgraced and definitively appauled with the Stoddard Rd, Macdonalds staff that my son and i encountered this evening.
