I had the pulled pork burrito with 8/10 spiciness. Let me tell you, it was quite the experience. I took one large bite and was in tears for the next 15 minutes. I had to go to New World to buy a chocolate milk drink and greek yoghurt to pair with this burrito because it was so hot. I spent the next hour eating this burrito cautiously with lashings of yoghurt, whilst watching the interview by The spicy ones and Gordon Ramsay knowing we were experiencing the same amount of pain. I was pacing up and down the room between bites to let the heat subside, with the chocolate milk in hand. It was quite the ordeal and I could only finish 2/3 of the large burrito. 8 out of 10 spiciness (hot AF) is not for the faint hearted.

I would rate this burrito 5/5 and would happily recommend this to a friend...

This is a do not miss stop for when you’re in the wanaka vicinity. After living in LA for 4 years and then spending 3+ years now in Sydney/NZ, I can confidently verify that I have given up on finding Mexican food down under; HOWEVER, with a combination of a craving and reading the reviews of Burrito Craft, I decided to take the risk. OH BOY was it worth it! Authentic and spicy and filling. My stomach hadn’t felt this notorious full satisfaction of tasty Mexican food in years. You must go, you must get a burrito. Whichever flavor, I can guarantee will not disappoint. For example, my partner who enjoys a fat steak thoroughly enjoyed the veggie option mushroom burrito and I opted for the chicken. AMAZING. Don’t worry about it, just give them your money and realize this is your new...

Context: I'm front the USA and have lived in California and Texas. I've been traveling the world for the past 6 months and this is by far the BEST burrito I've had outside my area of the globe.

I was a bit cautious since the outdoor dining area was quite nice and bougie. Back home, that means you're paying for the ambiance so expect small portions or mediocre food. This was not true here. The large chicken burrito was a BIG BOY. It was like eating a newborn. The taste was perfect. All of the fillings went well together, there was just the right amount of spice, and the slight, but not overdone, grilling of the tortilla brought it all home.

This place is easily a 10/10 and I'm pleasantly shocked I found it all the way in Wanaka, New...

Visited this store for the first time after the Roy’s Peak hike and was pleasantly surprised. The burrito was exceptionally good and came in a generous portion – it was practically a meal for two, yet only cost me $18.5. Such an amazing deal! The side dish, Tortilla Chips with dip, was also delicious. You can place your order via the kiosk and choose your preferred level of spiciness. If you prefer to pay in cash, you can order at the counter as well. The food was served quickly and piping hot. I returned another day after the Rocky Mountain hike, taking my burrito to Wanaka Beach. Basking in the sun while enjoying the burrito was the perfect way to conclude my Wanaka trip. I'll definitely be back again!

Response to the owners reply: You can make a tasty salsa with canned tomatoes if that helps, our local Mexican restaurant did it when we lived in the wintery mountains of Wyoming and it was great! Can also make Mexican slaw to add to it for cheaper option with minimal herbs and any kind of chili peppers. The tacos were too salty for me and lacked freshness of tomatoes/chilis and depth of flavor. Not like real street tacos. No tanginess or juiciness of salsa roja/verde/pico either, no burst of flavor, just mayo based sauce. I was hoping for a little more authentic street tacos. I liked the crispy element though. My husband said the burrito was pretty good, but didn’t have much Mexican flavor.

Burrito Craft is located within a cluster of food trucks along Brownston Street. We had a very good burrito from here during our recent stay in Wanaka. Burritos are made to order, you choose the meat filling and the level of spiciness. We tried the adobo chicken burrito medium-hot and very much enjoyed what was made. Burrito was thick, filled with good ingredients and tasted very good. This was a good burrito and reasonably priced lunch stop in Wanaka. There are a couple of tables right outside this food truck. Otherwise, take your order and enjoy it back at your hotel or perhaps down by the lake, just a 5 minute walk from Burrito Craft.
