“BEWARE NEVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD HERE”( please read the reply by owner without fail ) One of my worst experiences ever in a hotel was here , so it started with our check inn which we came very late that is 8 pm ( we where just staying for a night ) so the First Lady to welcome us( sherlyn was her name) was so rude and unwelcoming that we felt like we where a burden on her , I agree we where a big group with kids and we had booked 4 rooms but the way she spoke was like she was doing a favour on us with us staying there …. Before saying anything good she is like we need a credit card for any damages as you are travelling with kids ? I am like why would be there any damages but she was persistent for a credit card which I had the right apprehension I avoided giving seeing her behaviour and gave her a cash deposit of 300 Dollors and perfectly as I expected next day at our check as we where leaving early for Christchurch was at 10:30 am she came(sherlyn the same lady at check inn time ) to our rooms personally surprising and was checking each room which we where fine with but to our utter shock latter on in kids room they had eaten food and left the plates near the sink she said we have to pay extra for not keeping the dishes in the dishwasher? I didn’t want to argue said fine please deduct from the deposit than came another bomb 💣 she said our check out time is 10 am which none of us where aware and charged us 200 Dollors for all the rooms and gave our 100 Dollor deposit back still not happy and thinking about ways to still charge us 😂…..BEWARE to all guests staying in future don’t give your credit cards here I had an intuition and got saved . I just got a reply today …..you would know about there hospitality by reading the reply would request everyone visiting this property to please read the reply and then decide would you be risking yourself staying in this “SO CALLED HOTEL “……pathetic for such people to be in hospitality industry shame...
Read moreRooms: the kids room has damp smell so we have to leave the air con on. Other than that, the rooms are very clean and tidy, offer big spaces for four of us.
Service: we are disappointed that they didn’t have our booking details amended correctly. We initially booked for the night of 11/01/25, but requested to change it to 13/12/24 due to the change of our travel schedule. Email confirmation received from the hotel and confirmed that they have changed the date for us and reserved a two bedroom unit with great views. After we arrived, the receptionist couldn’t find our booking details, and she realized that the manager changed the date to 13/01/25 instead of 13/12/24 after we gave her the booking reference number. She said that all two bedrooms units are fully booked and they can only offer us two of one bedroom unit, we refused as we have two young children. Then after few minutes looking at the computer, she said that she can give us a two bedroom unit with the same category that we paid for, she also offered us $100 discount for being inconvenience caused. When I asked if the room also has the great views of Lake Tekapo and she said yes. When we checked into room 520, it’s on the ground floor and the second to the last of the room down the end, it only has very limited lake views from the living room. We were very tired on that day and decided not to complain again. I didn’t receive any email or phone calls from the manager about the mistake that he/she made which caused bad experience for our stay.
Location: best location that you can find in Lake Tekapo, it’s in walking distance to the town center and the...
Read moreHad a wonderful stay here for 3 nights. Absolutely recommend this stay to anyone looking for a gorgeous stay in Lake Tekapo.
To start- Dave and Sue were very accommodating helping to arrange my pickup and dropoff from the bus stop last minute.
On check-in, Dave notified me they have laundry on-site for a small charge. This was such a boon, at the end of a 3 week trip around NZ, having laundry on-site was a wonderful amenity!
My room was absolutely stunning. Partial view of the lake which was such a lovely view to wake up to every morning. Also, worth mentioning on the second night of my stay, the sky was clear enough and there was low/no-light pollution nearby that I was able to stargaze fairly well from my balcony!
The room itself was very well-appointed with all the amenities one needs. I usually eat out when travelling but my stay landed over Christmas and most restaurants were closed. Having the kitchenette in the room was a lifesaver and I’ll add that it was very well equipped in terms of cooking utensils, pots, pans, spatula, strainer, etc. I had prepared for “microwave meals” but the room included a stovetop/range and I certainly could have cooked proper meals here. The toiletries provided were of very high quality and also were from a company that support 6 different children’s charities- awesome to see that. The bed was super comfy, the shower spacious with great water pressure. I could go on and on. I’ll just say if you are looking for the absolute best accommodation- look no further, Grand...
