This is the first time I have heard a more complete explanation. When I checked in, your staff only told me that your system showed a bed in a 6-bed dormitory. I mentioned that this was inconsistent with what I booked on Booking.com, but she still insisted that the system showed it that way and there was nothing she could do. There was no apology throughout the entire process.
Now, in response to your reply:
Since you are the accommodation provider, it is your responsibility to ensure the information you provide on Booking.com is accurate. Therefore, any errors should be your responsibility to resolve.
You mentioned that you try to explain to all guests and that they understand and accept the situation. However, when I checked in, I received no proper explanation, just the statement that "the system shows this." Later that evening, I spoke with your male manager, trying to explain the situation, but he only told me that his shift was over and didn’t want to listen to me. His attitude was quite unfriendly.
You claimed your staff tried to explain the situation to me, but that I wasn’t willing to listen and shut the door. I’d like to clarify what actually happened: you placed me in "Stay In Lake Tekapo Backpackers," and I called "Lake Tekapo Village Motel" to ask about the situation. It was your front desk who answered and told me, "If you're happy, stay; if not, leave." She then rushed to my room and tried to take the keys from me by force, even attempting to search my backpack. I was simply trying to understand where the mistake occurred, but she kept repeating the same line: "If you're happy, stay; if not, leave." Our conversation happened in the hallway, and she left after making a phone call. I did not shut the door or refuse to listen to her.
Booking.com shows different prices for "Stay In Lake Tekapo Backpackers" and "Lake Tekapo Village Motel." I booked "Lake Tekapo Village Motel," but you placed me in "Stay In Lake Tekapo Backpackers." This is clearly a mistake between you and Booking.com, and I don’t understand why I should bear the consequences of your error.
Here is my original review, This motel is very deceptive. I booked a room at Lake Tekapo Village Motel through Booking.com, but upon arrival, I was assigned a bed in a 6-bed dormitory at the backpackers. The staff were extremely rude and showed no sign of apology, with an attitude of "take it or leave it." followed by the response from the business. Hi Day Nine, Thank you for speaking this out to the public. We, the accommodation provider, put the rooms on Booking.com. However, they provided the " partner offer" with the wrong information. We have tried to explain to all the guests the situation and report to Booking.com. All the guests understand and accpet the T&Cs. We are sorry that we can't change as you booked from Booking.com, not directly.
You are welcome to follow with Booking.com, not to here. We have the right to allow you stay or not to stay as the T&Cs after we explained to you as much as we can. Our staff was trying our best to explain to you, however, you do not want to listen and slam the door. We hope you book with our website with a cheaper rate with correct information when you visit Tekapo in the future.

Read moreOwner unnecessarily RUDE! Travelling through with friends - both us couples in our late 30's/early 40's so mature couples. We had a bite to eat at the cafe next door with the hotel shares a lane or driveway with. My partner had gone into the cafe to use the facility before departing so the 3 of us were waiting outside in the laneway. My friends saw a pretty wooden stairway and wanted to take a picture. A women then came out of the sliding door across the lane and barked at us, zero manners and said "you can't be on there, people are staying in the motel. We all turned around as we were confused. (firstly at where the voice was coming from and then, also at how rude she was. Then she said, "don't look at me like that". Again we were all shocked and confused. Fair enough, this is a motel so we got off the stairs immediately. (but it's not clear that it's part of the hotel as it's not joined and is across the lane) We were still waiting for my partner before heading back to the car and I saw another couple (not in our group) sit on the wooden stairs. A man then came out and also rudely told them and us that we're not allowed to even be in this area. Again, super confused. He said we're not allowed to stand here or walk through here. (the cafe tables were about 20 feet away and it's a logical way to walk back to the car park.) He then said we have to move as we're on private property. I advised him that they could have been polite and there was no need to be so non-human. There is no sign that says we're not allowed to stand or walk through there as Tekapo is a very touristy spot. i can imagine they have to tell people many times a day that they are not allowed to stand or walk there which is quite shocking. If you don't like people, or at the very least, if you can't attempt to be friendly; then maybe having a motel in the center of a busy tourist town isn't the right career...
Read moreLocating the Motel was difficult especially with so many businesses and signs. Staff were friendly. Good start. Rooms mildly dated but roomy enough and comfortable. Ceiling fans in living area and 2nd bedroom. Pleased to have use of two fold up chairs from the cupboard to enjoy the night sky from our verandah area. Construction going on between the lake and this venue has spoiled a fantastic view, as well as another building that has previously been built in front. The noise from construction was horrendous. It was so peaceful after the workers left for the day. Not the fault of the Motel over these issues. Bathroom extremely roomy with a spa bath that was the cleanest we have ever experienced! Well done cleaners! Heated towel rail a great help to dry off towels after use. Kitchenette well appointed with everything you would need and adequate sized fridge. Also very clean and tidy. Bed cover on main bedroom bed had something disgusting spilled on it, possibly bodily fluids? Sheets were clean. Bed reasonably comfortable. Good blackout curtains throughout. Bifold doors on main bedroom slightly annoying for trying to move around the bed and access the cupboard. Wifi was excellent, however it dropped in and out a bit. Room was serviced by cleaning staff which was appreciated. Rooms are NOT soundproof. Could hear neighbors above when they move around and could also hear neighbors in the room next door when they switched lights on and off. Not things that overly bothered us as it was a pleasant stay. Four Square Supermarket is no more than maybe 100 to 150 meters away. Bakery, cafes, taverns etc all close by. Fuel station just across the road. Would definitely return here if we could ever afford another...
