Went to dunedin on saturday 3rd march with hubby and had lunch with daughter and son in law. Daughter got a lemonade and raspberry when she asked for a coke and raspberry. Let the staff know and it was replaced. New waitress did make the hubby a good coffee. My meal was at the table when the other three had nearly finished theirs as the chief was not happy with a part of the vege burger and changed a vege pattie to three huge things vege things, as a long standing vego (since 1973) I would have preferred less waiting and the chef to simply chuck in some lettuce, tomato and beetroot. The waitress did apologise, but a bit too much. Maybe the wait i had may have been better with a lower price, rather than a longer wait, as I have said, lettuce tomato and beetroot chucked on instead of waiting for the three big huge ball things. My meat eating hubby prefrred them more than I did. And at the start I wanted a vege burger (anything without meat) would have been happy without the fuss...lettuce tomato and beetroot are my favourites, but...
Read moreFirst time visit, located in the heart of the student district, but once inside you feel like you are in an outer suburbs bistro. Place was surprisingly busy at 7.30pm, front dining area full and bar area started getting busy. Staff seemed to have it under control, bar service to the table was especially quick. Good range of beers on tap. Mainstream selection from Moa and some other smaller breweries. Epic Thunder APA was the favourite. Shared some entrees - lamb dumplings, spicy chicken, smoked salmon, haloumi fries all tasted very good. Beef ribeye main cooked perfectly with a big spoon of whipped garlic butter on top. Truffle seasoned fries were nice. Jus was tasty but a little runny and didn't really stick to anything. Cheesecake for dessert, not typical 'cake' presentation but still tasty. Keen to go back to try some...
Read moreGreat selection of beers and food, the staff service is excellent, we always frequent Eureka bar when in Dunedin for rugby. Unfortunately our last visit was ruined by a rude and ignorant Doorman who refused part of our group entry because the place was full then proceeded to let the next two groups entry. He tried to move us on from standing on the foot path while waiting for those in our group who were inside to come out and also for being in a non smoking zone (we weren't smoking) on the footpath, didn't now you are not allowed to smoke on the public footpath. Managment need to look at who is on the door and that they now the...
