Ordered the butter chicken and I was so happy to know it wasn’t spicy. Wish they had a gluten free option that wasn’t just serving the dish without the naan. The triple cooked roasties with bacon mayo were exquisite, I’d get them any time any day. The bangers and mash were good but needed more veg. We ordered 2 bangers and mash at the same time and for some reason one came with an onion gravy on top and the other one didn’t. Just weird the consistency wasn’t kept. There was also a rugby game going on and there were so many tv’a everywhere, I wouldn’t have minded if they had an acceptable volume but it was so loud I couldn’t really hear the person next to me let alone the person across me. I’d definitely recommend making a booking before you go because it was packed to the brim. Due to that the was also a 45 minute wait on food.

Locals of Queenstown looking forward to newly re branded Walter’s tavern. Drove in from Frankton with my partner and child on a Sunday to get the roast. We had no service to our table ( which other tables did). Upon ordering at the bar we were told the roast was sold out, disappointing as it doesn’t say available until sold out. I then ordered the double burger which looks nothing like photos advertised on their instagram page. Again no service to even check how our meal went. Overall very disappointing won’t be coming back.see photos of what burger is advertised as and what I got.

I love the name but above and beyond that, the food was good and the brownie for dessert was really good. Pictures are of the fish and chips (maybe not the best in town), steak (described as very good), and chicken parmesan (also described as very good). Service, while good was super slow. By that I mean the servers were very nice but the time between each section was beyond slow. We were there for 2 hours at what is essentially a bar. We were not in a rush but if you don't have some extra time, might not be the place to go.

Really terrible experience at the Pig & Whistle. Called and booked a table for four only to arrive and be told that the booking didn't exist. Thankfully there was a table available so that the two ladies in their sixties with us could sit down. The ribeye was out of stock so was subbed for rump which is fine, and we were told there would be a 40-60 minute wait for food which was also fine considering everywhere is short staffed. An hour after placing our orders the waitress reappeared to let us know she hadn't put the order into the system so we were looking at another hour wait. We reluctantly agreed to replace our order and wait again only to then be told that theyre also out of rump so the two steak orders for our table had to pick something else. At this point we had had enough and decided to cancel our order, finish our drinks and find somewhere else to eat. The staff offered a half-arsed apology and basically shrugged their shoulders at the whole situation. Just as we were getting ready to leave 5 minutes later, all of our orders appeared and left us incredibly confused. Again, the waitress materialised and offered a half-arsed apology for the confusion. We sat back down to eat and were all disappointed by the quality and portions of the food. The rump looked like half a serving and all of the fries were cold, while the squid was rubbery and seemed to have been sitting for a while. Pretty much everything else was tasteless and definitely was not worth how much it cost. It also looks like we were charged everything at full price, so the price of the steak wasnt adjusted considering that ribeye wasnt available. So incredibly disappointed with the service and the food considering that the Pig & Whistle has good reviews. All four of us will...

Service was friendly and efficient. But food was disappointing. We were out looking for a Sunday roast pub dinner and chose this pub because we wanted to try out their Pigs in Blankets, expecting an English dish of little sausages wrapped in bacon but they had "run out". A but disappointing, like going to an Indian restaurant and they had run out of Vindaloo. Sunday roast ($20, which is the same as several places in Queenstown) had the option of beef or pork. The pork roast was miserly for dinner, 3 thin cut pieces of pork, which I'd estimate around 80 grams, to be generous. The crackling on the pork was chewy and the pork was at the fatter end for pork belly. It came with a yorkshire pudding which tasted ok, but strangely had about a tablespoon of oil inside it, which I poured out. The beef roast was acceptable for a pub but there are better Sunday roasts around. The crusty loaf was edible but was very mediocre even by pub standards, only order if you really need a "filler", which we did. The setting was nice, I liked the outdoor seating option by the little stream that runs through town. Good setting for drinks in the late afternoon/evening, but I wouldn't recommend for dinner. Food was about 1.5 star, friendly staff and setting brings it back...

I waltzed into the pig and whistle pub on the 30/07/15 at around 8pm to have a beer and a feed with my mates. As we were told, the food would take around 45 minutes time we decided to grab a beer. Oddly enough all my friends were served their alcoholic beverages without question. I on the other hand was asked to present my passport which I did not have on me, I presented my Australian Drivers licence and was again denied being served. The group of four which I had been travelling looked puzzled as they were not asked for their passports and did in fact look much younger than I did. I sat down with my friends without beer in hand and observed the male bartender with a checked shirt serving other customers, none of which were asked for ID or passport. As I peered around the room, it was evident I was the only dark male in the pub, I was unsure that this was the reason why I was denied a drink, but whether or not, I had never felt so uncomfortable in a pub in my life. I sat at my table awkwardly waiting for my food as did my friends who were also displeased, We scuffed down the feed and left immediately. This event put a damper on the night for my friends and I. Horrid service by the staff in total, will certainly...
