Altura has always been a place we frequently visit for years, and we've always had a good impression of it. However, what happened today was very disappointing. There was a small piece of salad with an insect egg with webs in one of our dishes. We called the waitress, and she said she needed to show it to the chef first. Because of our trust in them, we let her take away the leaf with the insect egg on it. Later, the waitress came back and told us that the leaf was not fresh and insisted it was not a bug. So we asked her to bring the leaf back to us. When she brought it back, the piece of leaf with the bug had been removed by them, and they insisted that we were mistaken. We just wanted to hear them say "Sorry, we made a mistake." But the lady with pink eyeshadow kept insisting that we were mistaken. She said it was because the salad wasn't fresh sometimes and got crushed, and other times she explained it was burnt. She refused to admit that it was a bug. If they were not wrong, why did they remove the part that we suspected to be an insect egg? Luckily, we managed to take a photo of the remaining bug web. In the end, the lady with pink eyeshadow reluctantly apologized and yelled at us that the dish was made free for us. We were extremely disappointed and saddened by their attitude...

Chutney was forgotten (I say forgotten because I order from cabinet quite often and always get chutney alongside these types of meals at Altura) which is NO BIGGIE btw as I can just ask for some. I put my hand up for a waiters’ attention, 3 looked at me without helping (one of whom was just having a good yarn with someone else). Another made eye contact but she was walking towards another table to take an order so I put my hand down and waited for her to finish doing so. I was expecting her to come to me after she put in the other table’s order but nope. So I flagged her down again and requested for some.
Once she got the chutney she basically just threw the ramekin onto my plate that I was going to eat off. I say “throw” because it made such an unpleasant rattling noise against my plate - that’s how heavy handed she was with my (already crusty) food.
She might have been having an off day, which everyone has from time to time .. but your customers shouldn’t have to put up with bad service just because you’re not feeling good. It’s called being professional and doing your job.
There was one waiter who was attentive and proactive. She had glasses on and...
Read moreIt's a great coffee shop and eatery here on the North Shore. They are also the main coffee rosters for Altura Coffee. You can purchase coffee beans from them, they have a good variety of different blends as well as coffees from different country's. Top quality coffee, with a wide variety of eats and delicious food to enjoy. We had a Cuppachino to drink and something light to eat. Very friendly and helpful staff. There is lots of parking for your vehicles. Highly recommend for any future customers for top quality coffee and something to eat. Let us support our local businesses during these tough times, support local. We will definitely be back again.
The big change is the operation hours and the earlier closing in the afternoon. Still great food, coffee, and service.
Stopped there this morning for a Coffee Frappe and an Iced Latte, great drinks, and value for money. Business was humming, and all seating was full. It was good to see the support of the local businesses during these...
