I usually frequent Bread & Butter, but thought I would give Foxtrot a try the other day. When we walked in, the place was reasonably busy but had plenty of staff behind the counter, and lots of beautifully presented food in the cabinet. After making our selections we patiently stood by the counter. No less than 3 staff made eye contact with us, but turned away and continued doing other things! It took another patron to point out us out before we got served. We then ordered a slice of the ginger loaf and the stuffed kumara, which looked devine. However once the food arrived I was a bit stunned to see we had been served the crust of the loaf (despite there being plenty of the middle left when we ordered) and what appeared to be only half a kumara (see photo) when full length kumara was displayed on the cabinet. The loaf was flavoursome, but being the crust it was quite dry and definitely didn't meet the expectations of the moist display loaf in the cabinet :( the kumara tasted amazing... But I found it very awkward that we saw a staff member serve another table a large and full length stuffed kumara, which left us feeling a bit short changed. Tried to flag down a staff member to ask about this, but after 2 attempts I gave up (they seemed very very focused on doing their specific tasks...). Giving Foxtrot a 2 because the variety of food displayed looked really good and the taste of the kumara was praise worthy; however the service was lacking and I feel the food displayed in the cabinet set false expectations compared to the reality of what was served...
Read moreWell here is another breakfast review or brunch if you fancy it. We were lost in the city (near Ponsonby) looking for a spot to eat before heading home and we were fortunate enough to stumble upon Foxtrot Parlour. Oh you never heard of it? Neither did we but so glad we did. I mean if you need to feed several picky eaters this could work. From breakfast burritos to pancakes to muesli. There something for everyone, even the kids. All types of baked goods, they had cinnamon rolls on our day (delicious) and coffee. Yes I know what place doesn't have coffee, but it's good coffee! Get there early if you want a seat though they got fairly busy on our day. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating, to keep in mind if you fancy sitting in the sun. The staff was pleasant and quick with our food and even got my takeaway coffee ready in a jiff as we were leaving. (Did I mention the great coffee). So to recap: Lost (check); Hungry (check); Want some great food with great atmosphere (check, check and check). Find your way here, you will not be...
Read moreI never write reviews but after yesterdays service I just had to. It totally ruined my Mother's day. We went for a Mothers Day brunch, and the service was awful. Even allowing for it being a busy day. They took an order for 3 rumplethumps and brought out one. My kids were starving having had no breakfast. We don't eat out often (can't afford it). After 40 mins waiting, myself and my husband having finished our meals my children's meals had STILL not arrived. People around us who arrived after us had ordered and been served, and finished. I went inside to ask where their meals were.
So they had missed it, completely. Finally after OVER 1 hour my kids got their food. To be honest, food was not as great as I remembered. My Children then complained the whole time how we should of gone to Crave. Next time I will.
We got a free drink. But feel like we should have been given a voucher for something else or got al least one of the...
