Miann Ponsonby — Restaurant in Waitematā

Nice place to stop by if you are wanting dessert. The biggest issue is the lack of seating as it is usually always full. Seating inside is fairly tight but it is quite nice, especially if you can spot the dessert counters. They have a variety of different cakes, pastries and ice cream on offer and they have very interesting flavours. Aside from the cabinet they also have a menu for the more a la carte desserts. I grabbed the coconut shells and the smoked hot chocolate. The coconut shell was interesting, with mango and pineapples. Nice flavour and it all went well together. The shell just melted as it reached room temperature, so if you didn't take a photo fast enough you would've missed the shell. The smoked hot chocolate was very interesting. smoke held in the cup by a chocolate dome and you melt through the dome with hot chocolate. Friends got ice cream sandwich and a chocolate milkshake and were happy with their choices. Always a nice choice if you were wanting something sweet to finish (or start) your night.

I absolutely have nothing negative to say about Miann. All our experiences here have been great!

Ambiance 5/5 – Love their décor and the over all feel of this place! I wish they could expand so they have more seating as it gets very busy. During the winter, they also have blankets that you could use so you stay warm.

Food 5/5 – Beautiful and gorgeous desserts on display all the time! Always top notch and there’s different flavours for everyone. Their gelato is also very good and even their chocolate and biscuits on display are very enticing. I love their hot drinks and the cute designs on top of them! They are a bit more pricy than regular hot drink/desserts, but the overall experience is worth it imo.

Staff and Service 5/5 – People are always lovely here. Staff are always warm and friendly even during the peak busy hours.

Miann has been a longtime favourite of ours since its early days on Fort Street, and it continues to impress. Today, I tried their Vietnamese Iced Coffee, which struck a perfect balance between robust coffee flavour and just the right amount of condensed sweetness-not overly sweet at all. The service was warm and welcoming, and the pastry cabinet was beautifully presented, showcasing Miann’s signature creativity and flair for innovative desserts. Although we didn’t sample any of the cabinet treats this time (we were simply too full), the tempting display ensures we’ll be back soon. The atmosphere is inviting, making it an ideal spot to relax and indulge. Convenient parking is available on the main road or in nearby public lots, so popping in is easy.
