Such an incredible little hole in the wall. Ponsonby Central is a great food hall but I’m so glad we decided to explore every little corner of it before landing on a place for dinner.
Tinfeny’s was in the back, kind of hidden but let me tell you - search for this place, and don’t miss out! The food was clearly made fresh (you can watch them make it!) and with love. It was a really cool atmosphere too, comfy & unique.
The food was so so flavorful, great portion sizes, and reasonably priced as well. We could not get enough!
We got the: 5⭐️ - Crispy Pork Belly Bites - so so good, we ate some before we took the pic, but the portion is large. Make sure you get the Cambodian sauce with it, I guarantee you won’t regret it. 5⭐️ - Fried Tofu - yum! 4⭐️ - Fresh Spring Rolls with Pork Belly - these were good and refreshing but weren’t wrapped very tightly so everything was falling out ha, but it was flavorful! The pork belly was fried, and was not inside the rolls so just be aware it is not your classic wrapped roll! 4⭐️ - Drunken Noodles - so good but we just wished it had a bit more spice & more distributed throughout! We got some spicy bites but was not even in the dish. Otherwise, very flavorful and filled with different veggies & tofu.
Will definitely come again if we’re back...
Read moreTinfeny's is a new Cambodian restaurant and we booked a table here since the menu looked quite interesting. It is located in Ponsonby Central, close to the Brown Street entrance. It was almost like Thai but with more interesting items. The menu isn't overly big and they do have quite a few vegetarian and vegan options. The cocktail menu is also quite nice. I had the coco pandan marg cocktail and it was really nice. Nice pandan flavour and the coconut rim was tasty. We grabbed a few things to share. The stuffed chicken wings were interesting and the texture was a bit different. I quite liked the crispy pork belly because of the dipping sauce, but it was more like a crispy pork chop. I thought the most interesting item was the Amok trei, a fish dish which is set within a coconut custard. It had an interesting flavour. I also did like the papaya salad with the soft shell crab so it was a bit different and tasty. The beef massaman and the chicken cha kreung was nice. The cha kreung was spicy (it had three chilies). We sadly did not have the stomach for dessert since the interesting ones were quite starchy - Jackfruit and sticky rice, glutinous rice balls, and the banana sago. This would require a second visit. Interesting an tasty food which is a bit different to other...
Read moreThis place is an authentic Cambodian restaurant. I visited with my fiancée today, seeking to try something new after a busy workday on this rainy Friday. We chose this place based on its excellent reviews.
The staff were incredibly friendly and kind, providing excellent service. We ordered the popular drunken noodle, duck curry, fried tofu as an appetizer, and papaya salad. Note that the curry didn’t come with rice, so we had to order it separately.
The fried tofu was crispy and delicious, perfectly cooked. The curry was more of a soup style with a sour taste, which I enjoyed. It paired well with rice, though I don't think it would be good with naan bread, which I didn’t order. The papaya salad was sour and crunchy - my fiancée liked it, and so did I, as a fan of sour foods. Lastly, the drunken noodle was great and met my expectations.
Overall, the food was excellent. The interior atmosphere was more comfortable, warm, and cozy than I expected. It’s a fantastic place for catching up with friends, relaxing, eating, and chatting comfortably. I highly recommend this place, especially for those who enjoy sour flavours or Cambodian food in general,...
