Sunday is here and an ABs win demands some fish & chips for dinner. Thought a trip in to town would be good and headed to see the folk at Te Aro Fish Supplies.

Order: Fish & Chips and a Corn Fritter. Cost: $13

Not overly impressed at all with goods from here. The Warehou battered fillet was noticeably rubbery to the chew which was a let down. The crunch of the golden batter and the low oily yield was great, but the fillet was a let down.

The Fritter was another disappointment where they appear to have tried to be a bit cute with a crumbed coating. The coating cooked at a significantly quicker pace as it smelt burnt. The batter as it was very dense and unseasoned as it was tasteless.

The hand cut chips I thought were going to be the saviour of this catastrophe of a meal, but they weren’t. They were dry and the texture was jus off. How the heck can a potato not taste like potato??

It’s a well rated shop but today the goods were not worthy of that rating. The fillet was a good size and the portion value was also decent, but that’s all. The only thing I could think of was that maybe the oil hadn’t been changed in a while and therefore...

Not quite my local chippie, but one of the better ones in inner wellington. Does the usual fish and chips fare the hand cut chips are better than average and the sping rolls are good too. Usually the food was ok. Today I ordered fish and chips, the usual, but they were dreadful. Completely soggy and tasted uncooked. I even went back to talk to the cook 10 minutes later, showed them the food and they said that is normal, which is definitely inot true and has never been this bad.
